Pros

Friendly knowledgeable and experienced direct team I work with. Cycle to work scheme.

Cons

No bonus scheme. Now American owned, very corporate, CEO and vice presidents give text book answers to basic layman's employee questions (they do not actually answer the question). SLT Management team seem only interested in recruiting more Vice presidents, directors and managers. CEO and SLT team relocated themselves away from main work teams at Eckington. They are not interested in recruiting people on the ground needed to actually do the design, engineering, software work needed to keep the company engine going.Lot of talented and experienced people, some been with the business 20 + years are leaving/ left in the last year or so., More than I have ever seen leave in my years working at Ovarro ( Previously Servelec).

Ovarro Response

Thank you for your feedback. We completely agree that we have many talented people working at Ovarro, and it is our people that help make Ovarro a great place to work. It is great to hear that you like our Cycle to Work Scheme, and we were delighted to launch the Electric Car Scheme in October 2022. Whilst we have said goodbye to a number of Ovarro employees over the last few years, we have also been pleased to welcome many new members to the Ovarro team. As we have continued to grow and evolve as a business, we have welcomed new sites into the Ovarro group, increased internal promotions and adapted a Smart Working approach, all of which has helped us welcome individuals across different teams, functions, levels, and locations. o 85% of all new employees welcomed into the business over the last 12 months were non-managerial/leader roles o 47% were technical roles and a further 21% were in our Operations teams To support this growth and ensure we are adhering to our health and safety responsibilities, some of our colleagues have changed their base site to make room for others. This included some members of our leadership team who were previously based at our Sheffield site and who have relocated to our Chesterfield site. We also have members of our leadership at our other sites where we also have a high number of employees Over the last couple of years, we have had to make several changes to our approach to communication to help us adjust to our working environment and our global workforce. As such, when responding to any questions that may be asked within one of our public forums, including our internal social media channel, we will aim to ensure the answer is relevant and appropriate to all employees who may be interested and/or impacted by the response. If you have a question that you do not believe has been answered, please feel free to raise this on our “You Asked, We Answered” channel on Yammer We are sorry to note that you appear to have had a disappointing experience with our People team, and that you have not found the Wellbeing activities and support provided useful to your needs. The People team aim to resolve all queries as soon as possible, however, we appreciate that this may not always be resolved satisfactorily or as quickly as individuals may like. We welcome your feedback, and please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss this further and help us understand your personal concerns

Pros

Most of the workforce are skilled and professional.

Cons

Ovarro, a company supposedly specialising in the supply of telemetry and RTUs to the water industry, has proven to be a complete disappointment in every aspect. From its ownership structure to its business model, this company has consistently demonstrated a lack of regard for its employees and customers alike. Here are the key reasons why Ovarro deserves a damaging review: 1. Private Equity Ownership: Ovarro's ownership by a private equity firm has clearly prioritised profit over everything else. This has resulted in a relentless drive to reduce overheads, often at the expense of employee well-being and product quality. The company's sole focus on financial gains has created a toxic work environment that values cost-cutting measures over employee satisfaction. 2. Neglecting Employee Development: Ovarro claims to promote learning and well-being, but it is nothing more than a facade. The company's learning portal and well-being initiatives are merely empty gestures, as employees have no control over their own learning and development. Ovarro's leadership fails to empower its workforce, stifling their growth and potential. 3. Toxic Culture from the Top: The toxic culture at Ovarro stems directly from its leadership, particularly the CEO. Surrounding himself with yes-men, the CEO dismisses anyone who dares to challenge his flawed decisions. This creates an environment where innovative ideas are stifled, and employees are discouraged from speaking up or offering constructive criticism. 4. Loss of Valued Employees: Ovarro's disregard for its long-standing and valued employees is evident in their dismissive attitude towards them. Talented individuals who have dedicated years to the company are treated as expendable, leading to a significant loss of expertise and institutional knowledge. This turnover of experienced staff cannot be easily replaced, resulting in a decline in overall company performance. 5. Product Release Failures: Ovarro's rush to push products out before they are ready has led to multiple failures in their releases. The company's negligence in ensuring product quality and reliability has resulted in an overwhelming number of warranty returns. This not only damages the company's reputation but also causes significant inconvenience and financial losses for its customers. In conclusion, Ovarro's ownership structure, business model, and toxic leadership have created a company that prioritises profit at the expense of its employees and customers. The lack of employee empowerment, coupled with a dismissive attitude towards valuable staff, has resulted in a decline in product quality and customer satisfaction. It is clear that Ovarro's practices are detrimental to both its workforce and its customers, making it a company to be avoided at all costs.
