Pros

PACT is doing cutting-edge science and backing it up with world-class operations to meet its ambitious goal of curing end-stage cancer. This is a great company to work for if you like setting ambitious goals and collaborating with smart, talented people to achieve them. We have a company culture that is focused on problem solving and teamwork and PACT is a very rewarding place to work if those values align with yours. The company has invested in its infrastructure and talent pool to achieve The company has been very supportive during the current pandemic, as well. The company has been proactive in training new managers and talent development is taken seriously.

Cons

I am not, personally, a fan of the caterer we use. Other employees disagree with me.

Pros

- Truly among the most state-of-the-art, ambitious cancer treatment innovation (fully personalized [genomically] cell therapy) - At its peak had an incredible team of hard-working, passionate, brilliant scientists who achieved successful R&D + manufacturing + clinical (etc.) progress milestones at an almost unbelievable clip

Cons

- Too many poor managers - Too many people suddenly hired too quickly

Pros

The people working in lab are all super friendly, and mostly flexible hours. We stress culture and company values.

Cons

Downsized due to shifting priorities and pursuing too many things at once. Slowly taking away perks in the company like fully stocked fridge, spacey desk space (now we're all cramped in a small space), catered lunches, etc. Lack of transparency and communication with upper management. Managers aren't all equipped to be managers but still put in manager positions. People who apply for certain positions will get hired, and then end up doing a different job than what they originally signed up for, or end up taking up multiple responsibilities that should be another persons job due to lack of people and overly ambitious goals. Most of us are spread thin. We stress a collaborative environment, but most of us are so spread thin that we cant take on other work which is not collaborative. We have good company values, but it doesnt mean much if we dont act on them. The company will say things and then not do them or follow up. Things fall through the cracks.

People leave as fast as they are hired

Pros

Great technology, science. Well funded. Fast growth which could be good or bad depending on what department you end up in. Great CEO who understands the science side, cares about employees and can raise funding.

Cons

Parts of middle and upper management are a mess. Some managers have poor management and people skills leading to high turnover. Promotions are biased and unfair. There is no 360 feedback, so your fate rests on your immediate manager. With the hiring spree there has been a dilution of culture. There is a mix of hard/overworked employees, and those clearly just there to collect a paycheck. A lot of burnout from individual contributors asked to do too much or pick up slack for others. Unreasonable deadlines forced by clinical trials. Not enough separation between research and production, leading to excess red tape. Too many meetings with unengaged people.

Pros

- Interesting science, talented scientists and RAs that are passionate about the product and goal of the company - Most interesting projects can be pursued with minimal bureaucracy (if you're on the right team) - Solid funding for research; can buy virtually whatever you need to get the job done. - Company hiring aggressively to reduce team workloads

Cons

- Lack of trust and scrutiny from the top down for clinical work, resulting in micromanaging and severe anxiety. It's easy to experience burnout. - PACT's aggressive goals and culture results in crazy workloads at the expense of hiring and critical infrastructure for the clinical trial. Many forms are literally printed and signed physically - Management pretends to care about work-life balance but expects scientists/RAs to work as late as necessary to get work done - Science is well funded but management has extremely tight purse strings for employee perks. Pre-COVID, upper management would routinely buy weekly lunches for themselves, but not employees. A lot of leftover rice and salad was left in the lunchroom. - Some managers have no experience managing and it shows. There are a lot of communication issues and favoritism in certain groups (i.e. people getting promoted every year over more qualified individuals).

Pros

The people are very pleasant.

Cons

Management is very disorganized. Employee relations are handled like a political campaign (lots of spin and can be less than honest). Some managers are very territorial.

Pros

Company is on a great trajectory so far.

Cons

Many managers have never managed before and it shows. Arrogance, lack of trust and lack of integrity are huge issues here.

Pros

Location, Fast paced, Good Research team

Cons

As the organization is scaling up with new upper and mid-level managers, there has been recent high employee turnover due to harsh re-organization and shift of company's close-knit, open-minded work culture to "Do as being told". RAs of some teams no longer have freedom to troubleshoot or grow.
