Business outlook

Pros

Despite the poor economy, PRA is hiring several new employees. Due to the industry-wide shortage of CRAs, PRA actively recruits CRAs and has a couple of programs where In-house CRAs can bridge into a CRA position. Many employees, however, leave the company shortly after becoming CRAs.

Cons

The company is extremely top-heavy, continually hiring senior-level employees (vice presidents and senior directors) while laying off billable (to clients) employees. In addition, despite that the PRA had one of it's best years, the company didn't give bonuses; however, the CEO's direct reports all received promotions (to Exec VP.) The culture at PRA is to continually step on those below you and to screw the people equal to and above you to get ahead. Like most CROs, it's also extremely female-heavy.
