Frustrating place to work and stuck in a bygone era.

Pros

- Modern office and good location

Cons

- Little interaction between different working areas within the company - An 'us and them' mentality with Hogget Bowers who also use the same office space and are part of PSD Group. - Old hat recruitment methods - KPI city, outdated measuring of success/building out - A real lack of investment into current recruitment technology - Very little investment or encouragement for new staff - lack of staff incentives - High staff turn over in most areas excluding parts where staff have become institutionalised/have bought shares in the company. - An odd working enviroment - a lack of atmosphere, cohesion and inspiration. - Absent leaders - very rarely are the CEO or COO around and both give off the vibe that they are unapproachable even if they perhaps don't realise. - A dated outlook on flexible working- Management/Directors seem to work when they want or from where they want but employees don't seem to have the same offering - they also believe flexible working means being able to offer you an hour or so late start to leave an hour or so later. - Terrible CRM and duplicated data - have been promised a new one for years. - May have long established relationships in their markets but they're really not marketed well/poor brand and unknown to a lot.

Thank you for your comments. We do encourage feedback and our quarterly Values sessions are a good opportunity for our staff to voice ideas directly to the CEO face to face. Your comment about interaction (among psd teams and with Hoggett Bowers) is regularly discussed, and we are proud to say we have been working hard at this. We now have a successful referral scheme in place to encourage the different practices to work together, which is working very well. We are launching our new CRM next month which will automate a lot of recruitment processes, freeing up time for our consultants. This year we have introduced Office 360 and have migrated to a new cloud environment. We also have new IT equipment across all offices. Our senior management team, including our new CEO, sit among consultants in our open plan office, and are all revenue producing – working together with consultants. And, we regularly review our flexible working policy - and now have flexible working across all of the business including flexible A/L options.

Pros

- It's a more relaxed culture than the larger recruitment firms like Hays and you have a bit more freedom to design your days. It is not an aggressive, 'salesy' culture based on the fact they do hire people who will try and focus on building long-term relationships. - It is a reasonable stepping stone before joining a search firm that does more retained work and values creativity and entrepreneurial flair

Cons

- it is a highly stats and volume based recruitment company, meaning any ambition to be creative/innovative is stifled. You are expected to conform to type and this is completely at odds with any long-term attempts to build long-term relationships - it does not seem to evolve as a company, it is stuck doing recruitment the same way it always has, despite the industry changing dramatically - it should be focussed a lot more on developing retained work for example - there is a distinct lack of cross-team business development - a cardinal sin for any business. It should be incentivised better - managers are generally very poor at actually managing people, partly because they are only incentivised to do well individually and therefore are, in reality, only supervisors. - The CEO rules with an iron fist - even fairly minor initiatives have to be passed through her and this is hugely frustrating. Some of her senior management are in their positions because they will be compliant and not challenge her and this creates a somewhat robotic culture

Pros

- Senior management are approachable and very knowledgeable in their respective fields - Established brand in many markets - Very personable workforce - A grown up and collaborative environment - Fantastic offices - Good career and earning opportunities if you are successful - Overall a very good place to work

Cons

- Slightly outdated outlook on working from home/flexible working - There should be a little bit more support for consultants new to recruitment
