Pros

Had the pleasure of working with some kind and capable folks (with a few critical exceptions in sales leadership)

Cons

Shocked and insulted by how freely pay was delayed or withheld. The company "misplaced" my first paycheck. After being on the job for less than two weeks, sales leadership was too partied out to show up to work, came down with the "Miami flu," never returned to the office, and left the company without notice. I had to politely, and repeatedly, remind them about reimbursements for petty expenses I was instructed to make by new leadership (with text and email threads to confirm instruction). I had to, again, repeatedly ask about reimbursements for travel expenses I was instructed to make, again by new leadership (and again, email and text threads). I had to resort to begging for my commission before finally getting the picture and leaving without it. Never felt so disrespected in a job. There's your typical (or even extra frenzied) startup, and then there's the classic, silver-tongued, manipulative bait-and-switch. This is the latter. Can't even begin to summarize the wider variety of hollow promises that were made (comp plan and territory, ADS, job promotion, "current clients" etc.). General dishonesty through the interview process vs actual role in sales org.

Revolving Door - No Diversity

Pros

Anybody with a web presence needs bot protection. Most IT departments lack the talent and/or time to develop an effective in-house solution. Competitive salary.

Cons

** High turnover & No Job Security, Tech is not Unique ** Talent is baited with the compensation and benefits. Sales quota is not strictly enforced. We all have gone several months without selling anything. It seems some have been terminated as a way to motivate others. They hire people with zero proven sales experience, provide the bare minimum in training and expect them to be closers right away. Current employees receive no justification, only excuses. This negatively affects morale. There is no diversity in the workforce.

Pros

The best part about working for this company are the people in the Miami office. While it is a sales office, it's not the hyper-competitive madness that you might see in other sales offices. The people here are always willing to give a helping hand (if they like you) and are extremely welcoming to newbies. Free lunch is nice, too. Overall, management in this office is very understanding of needing to leave for emergencies and not coming in when you're dying of a cold.

Cons

If you are a woman, I do not recommend working for PerimeterX; it's a very male-driven office and a lot of the people came from the same fraternity so there is a lot of favoritism. Speaking of favoritism, certain people are handed deals left and right and are celebrated as if said salespeople got those deals themselves. This is a rampant issue in this office and was very demoralizing during my tenure there. PTO- In the employment ads, PerimeterX states that employees have "unlimited PTO" which attracts a lot of potential salespeople. Don't let this draw you in because it is not true, neither is the "work from home" option which is only granted to some of the enterprise reps. The paid time off has to be approved by your manager and if the manager decides that you only get 5 days vacation/year, that's what it's going to be whether you like it or not. IMPORTANT- If you are not from Miami and you have family elsewhere and want to spend the holidays with them, don't expect your PTO to be approved. The last two holiday seasons that I spent at PerimeterX, everyone's holiday time was denied at the last minute because it was "end of quarter". Three days before Christmas, everyone's vacation was eventually approved after flights had been canceled and our jobs had been threatened. Be prepared for this if you are considering working there. Overall, the culture that I walked into when I started is not the same as the one I left. This company is moving away from the startup culture that attracts a lot of people and is moving towards a much more corporate environment. While I look back on my time at PX positively, I do not and would not recommend this position to a woman...EVER. Two women were fired on the same day. One of whom was let go after she had closed a deal, the other one was let go after bringing in three large opportunities that will undoubtedly be handed to the favorites in the office, who didn't do anything for the commission they might get. - DO NOT EXPECT A COMMISSION CHECK UNTIL YOU ARE AT LEAST 9 MONTHS IN- Seriously.
