Pros

1. Hired some bright minds long time back, few of them are still there. They really add value to the company. 2. The food is healthy and tasty. 3. Quarterly outings are good if they happen. 4. Even if you are part of any team you can understand and give your views towards the business of the games. 5. Some good outside speakers invited at times. 6. Get a chance to work and understand the gaming industry which is growing pretty fast.

Cons

1. The working conditions of QA Testers and Developers are really bad. They have to work long hours and are always under pressure. The product team thinks themselves as kings and just order randomly to do things in short time without proper vision and planning and with unrealistic targets. Most of them lack any technical knowledge and they just think about present without caring future sustainability and stability of product. There are no technical brain storming session with engineering just orders and deadlines. They at times come with last minute changes. The builds are also buggy because of this. 2. The UI team is really good but they are not given time and freedom to think good ideas and just enforced to copy from the competition and try to just change it. The same thing happens with design team too. 3. The condition of the technical team is pathetic. Yes they hired some of the good engineers but most of them left within months because the tech stack is really bad and they are not treated well. The engineer who works in Playsimple is simply degrading his skills. They don’t know how to write proper codes because there are no senior engineers in the company to guide and they are always in hurry and pressure because of product. CTO of the company is really humble and the only guy with good knowledge and care of the tech team but things are out of his control lately and he is at times helpless. 4. They have really degraded their hiring standards just to save money and hire freshers and interns( even straight from 3rd year) from Tier 3 colleges who don’t get proper mentorship and end up failing outside. Their mentors themselves are lacking proper knowledge at times. 5. The CEO of the company has a good knowledge about his field and his product but is a very bad leader. He treats people like his servants and tries to enforce his ideas even if they are bad. He acts like a complete dictator at times and doesn’t know how to talk with people. And when they try to leave he thinks that he can buy them with money. 6. Its said company culture was good 2 years back when team was small. The working hours were long but people were full of energy and enthusiasm and there were really bright minds around(Most of them left because of culture). But slowly culture went towards bad politics and unprofessionalism. The people just try to put blame on when one another and respect each other less now. Most of the people are all time insecure and stressed. 7. The appraisals are very average and not at par the time and effort you give. If you are from good college don’t expect much growth here. You will end up just getting false promises. 8. The most important thing is the product and ideas. Most of the games and features are just copy or rip offs of already existing ones. There is no out of the box thinking done while designing them. Again the idea is just to make money at present any how and not thinking about future of game or company. 9. The leave policies are pretty bad and its really difficult to take leaves at times even if you have an emergency with lots of explanations to be given. 10. The hiring and firing policy is pretty much there. Many people just disappear within a week. Although most of them leave with their personal choice as they are dissatisfied but there is no transparency. 11. There is no proper HR team(maybe because people say they were fired too) in the company that’s why lack of proper system. 12. At times feels like you are working in a shop but not for a tech company. 13. The seating arrangement is changed for people every now and then. Its CEOs pass time actually. And also people who serve notice period are treated bad.

Pros

1. Weekly/Bi-weekly sessions or talks, in which people from the industry come and talk about their experiences. You get to interact with them and learn a lot on how a startup eco-system works. 2. CTO is very humble and talented and looks out for you. If you get to work with him, you'll definitely learn a lot. 3. You'll feel a sense of responsibility and shall get to manage and develop some wonderful games all by yourself, right from ideation to production.

Cons

1. Micro management, highly un-professional behaviour from the people seating on the board. 2. Promises made before you start employment, i.e. during negotiations are all false. If you look for a career opportunity in this company, be thorough with the contract you hold with them and always have everything in written on mail or whatever form. 3. Fairly stable startup, so you'd think it'll be a stable job. But, be warned, that is not the case. I've seen people getting fired with even two days of notice. 4. In your initial days, you are constantly asked to post a review on glassdoor, which is quite irritating. 5. It's a business oriented company, not a data driven, which they claim themselves to be. Less focus on engineering, so you'll not get to learn, explore or work on the latest tech or even follow the industry standards. In a gist, engineering is compromised at this firm. 6. Outings sucks or atleast sucked! One of the lamest office parties I've been to.

Pros

- cares about employees in general - people are really nice, kind and supportive all across - appraisal cycle every 6 months with decent hikes - food, snacks, TT, ps4, some fun events - great support for COVID ( cylinders, leaves, bonus, etc) - almost everything that is not related to engineering is amazing considering it's a startup!! - can get exposure to a few good techs (gets repetitive fast)

Cons

- they recently opened esop buy back window where no one can actually sell their years of vested stocks. Their all employee retention strategies are based upon upfront lies - no innovation at all. They directly implement features of their competitors and have no intention to move beyond word gaming genre. - make no mistake, this company’s only focus is on businesss and business alone, no one cares about engineering, not even engineering managers - full of freshers. company is a hub for jaypee college. They hire only 6-month interns from 1-2 more colleges to save money because of which everyone here is inexperienced. They haven’t visited any other college in at least 2 yrs - the work overall is sooo repetitive that your learning curve stops after 1st month itself, whichever team u join - WLB of devs is absolutely terrible. They are tensed and under pressure all the time because of which it’s common to work on weekends. Midnight releases are common - Before covid, there was barely any outing or celebration at all. Company is happy ordering donuts and brownies on reaching major milestones - no career growth for engineers after like 2 months - My manager .. oh boy .. where to even begin lol .. - he has no knowledge of things, tech stacks, problem solving skill, he’s happy micro managing every single task and then talks rudely when some bug appears. - Doesn't have the basics of empathy towards employees that a decent human being would have. - has no vision for what’s supposed to be done - no leadership examples to learn from - no values in general to learn from - politeness depends on his personal mood - tell him how boring and dull work is and he’ll spend next 3 hr to prove you that it’s the coolest work you’ll ever have in your life - It’s a core responsibility of a manager to focus on his employees career growth. Not here. nada - in office, he'll constantly ask for work progress every 2 hours even though you tell him in the morning scrum everyday! - nothing is streamlined, deployment, testing, releases, you have to micro manage every single thing that doesn’t directly bring in revenue - has no interest in expanding tech stack even when use cases exist, coz again, they don’t directly bring in revenue - ideally managers are supposed to give ownership to the team. Here the manager has no idea who owns what. Needless to say someone like this doesn’t give a fair hike. You get the same salary that others of same experience as you get, so it doesn’t matter how hard you work or ownership you take. You’ll never be rewarded. - sooo many lies during appraisal (only you’re getting this hike and blah blah) - when you want to discuss with him about your colleague's career, he'll tell you upfront "none of your business". No one deserves such a manager :) - the co-manager has no shame in asking people to work on weekends. He'll call you personally if you don't reply him within 10 mnts.! - overall reason you should join this company.. if you want decent salary while being emotionally and mentally exhausted every day and do not want any career growth - the work is not worth it, the people are.
