A dream turned dumpster fire

Pros

Working with some great people as both colleagues and leaders within my small space

Cons

Everything is broken - as a quota bearing sales rep, I literally cannot create a quote or contract without having to make around 12 attempts and eventually escalating and waiting for 2-3 days. Senior leadership make several mistakes in planning out this year which they've refused to take ownership of, and is now costing me commission. I have over achieved my Q1 quota but the company has managed to discredit some of the deals I closed, and have refused to address the issue. Morale is through the floor, nobody knows how to fix the problems because everything is a problem. Staff are leaving weekly, and the amount of working knowledge walking out the door is criminal. It honestly, feels like targets have been set with the intention of being unattainable this year, because if I can't get a contract out to a client due to the company's shortcomings, how am I expected to close a deal? I've worked here for years, and it's the most disappointing downturn I've ever experienced in my career. I'll be leaving, but I want to make sure that I don't leave before there's an offer of redundancy - this business doesn't feel sustainable.

Don’t work here!

Pros

The people are nice. Unlimited holiday, if anybody uses it.

Cons

Product is a failure, we can’t support business customers. Private Equity owners change commission constantly to make sure they don’t pay anybody. So if you are in Sales, go somewhere else. Company is run by finance who don’t have a clue about customers. ELT need to stop giving them the power. Redundancies made every 6 months, that shows zero leadership from the top. Nobody has a strategic direction that they are sticking to, otherwise plans wouldn’t change twice a year. Acquisition of ACG was devastating for the future of Pluralsight. There is no autonomy and no accountability. The customer facing teams are at the cold face and no other teams are held accountable for anything.

Thank you for the review. I understand and acknowledge your concerns regarding our product and customers. Our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Product Officer (CPO) recently announced a new strategic direction and product roadmap that we are fully committed to. I’m confident that their expertise and vision, along with the experience and capability of our new CEO, will lead us toward success. I can assure you that our customers are a top priority. We are dedicated to delivering products and services that meet their needs and provide value. We recognize the importance of customer satisfaction and are continuously striving to enhance our offerings to better serve them. We’re particularly excited to announce our Everything SKU and AI Sandboxes. To address your call out on autonomy and accountability, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of autonomy and every team member is responsible for owning their outcomes. Team members also consistently rate us highly in terms of offering autonomy in their roles, in our employee surveys. We are all accountable for achieving our individual Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), and are encouraged to take on new challenges and solve problems, while working together to contribute to the overall success of the company. While we understand that changes can sometimes be challenging, we are committed to our strategic direction and believe it will lead us to a brighter future. Thank you for your contributions. Burn out, confusion and concern about future

Pros

Still has some amazing people trying to give their best Unlimited PTO (but look below) Remote working

Cons

Unlimited PTO hides the fact most people have to work during leave due to chronic under resourcing and general ongoing issues. I’ve probably had less quality time off in the last few years than in other companies. The lack of direction, teams having less collaboration (mainly due to too many fires or incompetent senior management) and just not having the patience to build the company in a long term sustainable way could be the end of Pluralsight. Greed and vista’s clear lack of understanding of a company serving customers at scale has taken what looked to be a market leader that customers love to just another mediocre SaaS company at best. The positives reviews you see are suspect - I can’t think of a single person that would recommend it now. Its sad to say that the best days are gone - all companies change but that’s not the problem, it’s a strategy that doesn’t listen to its customers, market or employees in a brutal chase for cash. They could turn this around but they need to listen and time is running out.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I’m sorry to hear that your experience at Pluralsight is no longer a positive one. We do have an unlimited PTO policy, however, we understand that with recent organizational changes team members may feel they cannot take full advantage of this benefit. If you feel you are unable to do so, please speak with your leader on ways they can support your time off. Your feedback regarding lack of direction, collaboration and senior management is important. I know that there has been a lot of change and uncertainty. I can assure you that Aaron is still very much involved. We’re committed to a bright future and are continuing to work toward achieving our mission. I hope you’ll see that Pluralsight is still a great place to work over the next few months. -Will
