I worked at Poundland part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You dont need any qualifications to work here so I guess its easy getting in.

    Cons

Horrible management. Never had the same boss for more than a couple weeks. Threat of being fired constantly dangled over your head. Expected to go above and beyond in terms of workload for minimum wage, Pressured into working overtime if the work given wasnt completed in the shift. Overtime was rarely paid, even our actual hours would be skimped on if the company could get away with it. Would suggest personally noting your hours. Sometimes workers would get a "promotion" (which was by 20p per hour AT MOST) and in result police those in lower positions in hopes the company would notice and provide more pay bumps, which never happened. Literal work hazards every where that the company is too cheap to fix. Holes in the warehouse floor, broken pump trucks etc.

I have been working at Poundland full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Friendly colleagues and can have fun. Opportunities to progress if you want a career. Apprentice offered to all colleagues. Salary good compared to area. Various bonus and staff perks.

    Cons

Can be long hours, "some store managers stuck in the old ways of working" Lot of benefits for colleagues but still not many for managers.

I have been working at Poundland part-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is a good company to work for but I guess it depends on the team and the people you encounter, as in all workplaces. As long as you are a hard worker and do your job, you should e fine everywhere.

    Cons

There are no cons, we are like a small family and we help each other with the tasks so work does not feel like work. There are days and days. Days when we have to change plenty of bays, seasonal, low levels and days when is more like a chill atmosphere.

I have been working at Poundland full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have genuinely not found 1 person (both current and ex colleagues) who has not enjoyed their time at Poundland. The ethos of the business is amazing and everyone is part of the #proudland family. There is a can do attitude where the business values it's colleagues and welcome innovation - just read James Kerr 'Legacy' and you will have a good idea of what it is like to be part of this family where everyone pulls together and people are at the heart!

    Cons

Being a discounter has it's challenges and it can be hard work sometimes but here hard work is made fun and everyone rallies together.
