Pros
- Great work life balance. Some meetings start early, but the day ends at 5 - Small office, it can be fun - Tones of events, beer, food and a love for champagne (no special occasion required) - Pretty good perks (unlimited vacation, 4% matching 401k, great food/snacks) - You can work on absolutely whatever you want, regardless of how it helps the business, as long as it’s “cool” and “bold” - The product has a good brand
Cons
- Leadership isn't thinking of the company, only their egos. Some leaders are exceptionally bad, and they all like to pass the buck to people below them - The same leaders who didn’t raise a flag for years when the company was flatlining, are still somehow in charge of moving it forward - Extremely bad engineering and product culture - Unbelievable incompetence at all levels that goes completely unchecked - Whiney and blame-shifting co-workers, specially when they are under pressure - There is absolutely no synchronization between the goals of the Budapest and San Francisco office. The BP side is happy to be in the news and be considered a “visionary” company, they don’t care at all if we're making money - Most of the perks are BP focussed. For the same work, BP employees will be rewarded with a fancy extravagant boat party, while the SF office will get 1 beer (true story) - Leadership’s motivations are not aligned with the growth of the company. They’ve already made their money and now they focus on their LinkedIn followers and how many articles they can be quoted in
