Pros

Great process and solid team.

Cons

Because of the mismanagement of the product since the growth days, money has been poorly squandered on unnecessary meet ups and more recently a company-wide Barcelona off-site, where now 1/3 of the company that was going has now been laid off. A smarter strategy should have been investing in performance and accessibility improvements to aid their now-unachievable enterprise product goal.

Disaster - get out now

Pros

Some good people remain, but not for long I would imagine.

Cons

The standard of the exec team at Productboard has consistently declined over the past two years, to the point now where it is a bargain bucket of talent that currently surrounds the C-Player President. He is so out of his depth it hurts, and the gaslighting of "hey isn't it great here" is comical. Global revenue has remained flat since Feb 2022, largely driven by significant churn challenges across all segments. The CEO hires anyone in his top team, without scrutiny, many are an obvious disaster (and are gone in 6 months). They then hire beneath them, and from there the standard just drops and drops. Product has no differentiation anymore, roadmap just never came. The consistent theme from Prague where Product is based was very lethargic - "this is all too much work" - this is why companies set up in the US.

Stuck in a Loop of Constant Disruption

Pros

You get to work with an incredibly talented and collaborative group of colleagues, ssuming they haven’t been silently laid off by Tuesday. It certainly keeps you on your toes; you will never have to worry about the boredom of a long-term strategy or the monotony of job stability.

Cons

The company has a worrying pattern of overhiring, followed by massive layoffs. Specifically, they ramped up headcount from barely 200 to over 500 twice in the past four years, only to slash it back down. As a startup in a very unstable economy, chaos and heavy workloads are nothing new. What is odd, however, is that leadership never seems to learn from their frequent re-orgs (pretty much one per year since 2022) and rolling layoffs. This is likely because no one in a key leadership role stays long enough for a strategy to stick. Constantly shifting the core strategy and silently gutting teams in the background has led to low morale and a culture of distrust. Innovation requires stability, but this company is stuck in a cycle of constant disruption. It is hard to recommend working here until leadership breaks the cycle of overhiring and firing.
