Not the great company it used to be

Pros

- They offer a good range of benefits such as learning and development, home office, monthly remote stipend, enhanced parental leave, sick pay, medical leave etc - Great people were previously hired so there are a lot of good people at the company - Some teams have strong team leads who protect and vouch for their teams and their culture is good

Cons

Note that the majority of Glassdoor reviews were submitted when Prolific was a very different place to work. The current reviews do not align to Prolific 2.0. - The culture has taken a big hit in 2024 and it's no longer a great place to work for many people. This is obvious by the large number of leavers there have been this year. - In a bid to improve revenue and performance, leadership brought in Prolific 2.0 which was delivered poorly and massively missed the mark - The salary isn't that competitive compared to other tech companies - Lack of transparency from leadership and bad delivery of company comms - Bottleneck situation regarding career progression in a number of teams

Pros

- Remote first - Pay almost makes amends for the lack of psychological safety

Cons

Prolific could be a great place to work, but unfortunately doesn’t know how to get there, and has some big challenges to overcome. The real problem is rather than actually listen and apply the “first principles thinking” which is constantly being talked about and that everyone else should do; leadership only listen to the ill-advice of opportunist advisors, consultants and irrational and naive product leadership. There is a nasty undercurrent behind the nice, friendly surface which can be directly linked to C level appointments from interim backgrounds who genuinely see people as numbers on a spreadsheet with a lack of empathy. People were told that they no longer fit a target culture of being “Prolific 2.0” - a top down mandate which essentially removes any sort of accountability from leadership on creating a good culture, and instead makes it easier to remove people, a massive misfire by leadership as people are now leaving in whole bunches. Prolific’s problems could be fixed, but would need a radical overhaul of the leadership team. There is an incredible naivety and lack of actual experience in the leadership team. Until leadership realizes they are the problem and not the teams they disempower, I’m afraid it’ll have wasted its time in the sun.

Pros

Great onboarding to the company and great pitch in terms of autonomy, innovation and getting things done. Top mgt seem great.

Cons

Unfortunately the con the also the pro. It doesn’t all work and they have some really inexperienced people in middle mgt trying to lead people and they don’t really know what they are doing.
