I worked at Quiksilver part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everything was fun in the company, from opening, to stocktaking to sales!
The people who works there are just fantastic! They are all travelers of the world and have million stories to tell.
The opportunity of promotion is OK, I saw a couple of people getting promoted after a couple of years.
The management is great, all very friendly and hardworking.
The values of the company are great.

    Cons

Somehow, the stores in London didn't make enough money to keep open...

    Advice to Management

I worked at Quiksilver part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A fantastic, enthusiastic team with a good mix of retail professionals and people with a board riding background, ideal to sell and offer advice on the Quiksilver clothing and accessories range. Good, fair management with support inside and outside of the job.

    Cons

Sometimes there were few hours for part-time workers however obviously this can't always be avoided.

    Advice to Management

Ensure to hire people with a board riding background to ensure an immersive and helpful experience for customers whilst also creating a great work environment and sales team.

I have been working at Quiksilver full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    free clothing allowance
    amazing co-workers
    cool product

    Cons

    No career development
    No rewards
    No Thanks

    Advice to Management

Notice and remember who is doing the hard work you and reward them for it.
Don't make a hard worker of over 8 years, on £13500 feel like they're wasting their time running a store for you for 7 months, clawing back daily targets for no extra pay, only to then give the Manager job to a person who runs the place into the ground.
Very disappointed and I guess I'd be somewhere better off by now and not working a 10hr part-time contract in a lifestyle branded store I hate if you hadn't made me feel so useless, worthless and unappreciated. I was really keen to give another 8 years, more!, to Quik'. Who am I though eh!

Also, employ more active 'core people in upper management - and in store for that matter!
Don't bring people over from L'Oreal or Diesel or wherever!?!?! What the hell do they know about 'core board sports, the lifestyle and those who love Quiksilver want?????
I was the only member of staff who was a Surfer, Skater and Snowboarder. No one else did even ONE of those!
Get people who know what they're talking about. Who live and breath Surfing et al, And get those people in your surfing Dept. Same goes for the other sports.

Board sports is a living, breathing, active and extreme lifestyle and Quiksilver should be the heart beating inside of it, full of passion, excitement, and desire to get out there and be the No 1 brand.

"Our roots run deeper" you say. I say, "Don't forget them then!". JH

I worked at Quiksilver (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy going sales job. Laid back atmosphere.

    Cons

No direction from management. Management never present. Team left to sort out everything alone.

    Advice to Management

Focus on improving the culture of your own store location. Never ignore the atmosphere and how your employees are or are not communicating with each other. The team dynamic -if bad- will severely influence your sales.
