Pros

The employees are great and have a real desire to make something of the company My commute was very short

Cons

No strategic vision; shooting from the hip at the top Customers dropping like flies; not willing to accept the reason why Employee turn-over near one hundred percent annually in many departments

Pros

-it seemed like a decent starting wage for me. I was wrong, for the work, lack of cooperation/communication from other team members, I should have asked double.

Cons

- The company is using technology that was last relevant about 15 years ago to develop and maintain their software - "Developers" (and yes, that belongs in quotes as they don't necessarily deserve the title) are working without any standardized methods of testing, developing, and no design specs for the modules they are working with (I asked, they had none, and couldn't provide me with the answers needed to complete my job). - "Developers" create DB tables willy nilly on the fly with absolutely no thought to schema, maintainability, or functionality. -"Developers" are expected to read Insurance specific technical documents. I'm a Programmer, not an insurance salesman. -For an entry level position for a student it appears to be a decent starting salary. But its not worth the headache. I'd recommend finding a company using relevant technology and not expecting you to be an insurance lawyer on the first day of working there, also a company where you can find someone who can mentor you along your path to becoming a fledgling programmer. NOTE: All positive reviews for the company are from the same day. If you want to take that as a sign about how bad it is to work there, then you'd be right.

Pros

-Great opportunity for someone with little/no experience to gain some experience. -Team members and other grunt level employees are great to work with. -Weekly lunch if team and personal goals are met. -I loved the opportunity to innovate and be rewarded, but that stopped about a year ago.

Cons

-It used to be a great environment, but managerial changes have created a hostile atmosphere. -Going the extra mile to help the company fix a program because they got rid of the only person building it... will only reward you by trying to fire you, but when you prove your work was done exactly as instructed, they "let you go" because "the company is going a different direction" ... exactly as the January 11th review said. I thought it was just me... apparently not. Benefits are seriously lacking unless you've been there at least 3 years... good luck staying employed that long. They find ways to get rid of those who are using benefits and costing the company money. -Assigns developers to tasks that no one has any experience in. I had to teach myself at least 2 languages with no support available. -Each developer is given tasks enough for 3 or 4 different positions, and not compensated for the extra work. -Management injects a "rule by fear" method by telling everyone that people who are let go were fired for unsatisfactory work and multiple warnings to improve. I never received any warnings and my peers can testify of how clean and innovative my code was. -Promised compensation for a job well done is conveniently forgotten. -Development has been halted and company refuses to update ancient software because "there is no ROI"
