Not a friendly place for women

Pros

Interesting work, laid back, university environment, good salaries, the chance to do work that has an impact on society

Cons

Very little diversity, lack of management direction, professional women are not treated the same as men and often feel they are in a hostile environment, management is not transparent, evaluation criteria differ greatly even for similar positions depending on who your manager is. Needs an overhaul of senior management

Pros

The work is good. Very flexible, and accommodating culture. Friendly people. Stress free environment. Also the option of taking free courses from UNC Chapel Hill. Love this place.

Cons

Wish salaries were better - but then again, they are competitive with other national research labs. Some good cafes in the vicinity would have been nice. Also some sofas.

Overall good if you don't have much career ambitions

Pros

Good benefit, office and location, pay is good - at least to me

Cons

Flat structure, not much upward mobility. Unless you want to be in a managing role (and there are only a few), you won't get promoted. It is not, I guess, they don't want to because there is no hierarchy in the structure.
