Pros

There Is no longer anything good about the hospital. Look at most of the reviews. They are anonymous jobs.Several Months ago they had a 2 average. Now it's 3.5. I'm calling bull. Conditions have only gotten worse.

Cons

Hospital will now openly state that you are replaceable. Staff cut to the point that respiratory now has to act as nursing aids. Open animosity to the staff. The place is a preassure cooker. Waiting to go off.

Pros

The pay was good.

Cons

Upper management who give lip service. Lots of Lies in this organization. High Drama everywhere! They are still escorting the best of the best to the door and saying GOODBYE... Not sure when they will wake up and realize that YOU need experienced people to stay ... NOT LEAVE... something else that has been bothering me... The HR department is just plain awful there... no caring ..no compassionate or kind people in this department.. just call the HR department on the phone.. and listen to how they speak to you or how they talk to you... and quite honestly.. its everyone in HR. They speak to the employees as if they are worthless... its a shame. Its a hospital... listen to your nurses people!! Without nurses it wouldn't be a hospital!

Pros

NONE! Do not work here.

Cons

Low pay, they work you like a dog. You have to clock out to use the bathroom. The PTO benefit is a scam. Every time you want to take off you are denied because they are always short staffed. High turnover rates, everyone hates working there. Don't talk about creating a union unless you want to get fired. Also evey time you don't meet their monthly goals which are never reasonable you get a strike. 3 strikes and you are out. Do not work for them.

Reading Hospital Response

We are very concerned with your review. Please know that employees are not to clock out to go to the bathroom. If they are asked to do so they should call HR to talk with an HR Business Partner. The only time an employee needs to clock out is when they leave work for the day and if leaving work for a personal appointment or leaving the campus for lunch. Reading Health System has been and continues to be a union-free employer and is committed to providing working conditions, wages, and benefits that are competitive with those offered by other employers of similar stature in the healthcare industry. As a result, on an annual basis we evaluate our pay grades against other employers in the area and region to ensure we are competitive and make adjustments to our pay ranges as needed to remain competitive. In regards to PTO at the minimum a new hire will begin employment with 3 ½ weeks of PTO if not more. If you did a survey of other organizations you would find that most start new hires with 2 weeks of vacation. You also commented that we need to hire more staff. It should be noted last fiscal year, we hired 1134 new employees of which 141 were rehires and this fiscal year to date we hired 1070 of which 116 were rehires. The rehires are people who left but returned to RHS because they valued working here and wanted to return as their employer of choice. In conclusion, please know that Reading Health System supports employee rights under the National Labor Relations Act to join or not to join a union. We recognize that maintaining a union free environment is a privilege earned every day. We will, within applicable legal limits, strive to protect the individual rights of all Reading Health System employees. –Director, Talent Acquisition
