I have been working at Red Hat full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Brilliant colleagues, very smart, very helpful - there is a culture of helping each other across the company You can approach anyone at any level (starting with Jim Whitehurst) Lots of room to grow your role, or change roles You are positively encouraged to work on open source projects, and your contract even says you can work on ANY open source project (obviously, if it is not part of your day job - you need to do this in your own time) IT Helpdesk is actually worthy of the name (part of the helpfulness culture) Lots of chances to implement ideas to improve things for customers and colleagues Strong encouragement for volunteering (esp. STEM/STEAM) Access to engineering, product management, etc is excellent.

    Cons

You need to be self-motivated - expecting "the company" to do things for you all the time will not work. Some of the internal systems and processes need improving but this is happening

I have been working at Red Hat full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Snacks -Nice people (apart from management) - Great products and offerings

    Cons

Over the last few years the culture has changed, they are always claiming to be this transparent company but that's not the case anymore, the channel team is probably the worst with over 5 people leaving in the last 6 months. Forget any flexibility, they are slowly taking away employee rights such as working from home and parental rights. My advice would be avoid the Commercial and Partner team within the UK.

I worked at Red Hat full-time for more than a year

    Pros

*good environment *international team *good facilities, office, additional activities, business trip during the year, company events *the possibility to grow in career path

    Cons

*the possibility to grow in career path IF the manager wants you to grow somewhere *if you work with targets, pressure is very big especially when there are 2 managers to manage a team of 8 people *no possibility to work from home (just in extraordinary cases)

I worked at Red Hat full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great colleagues Good Work/Life Balance Free coffee, fruit and snacks.

    Cons

Internal bureaucracy. Nowadays there are "hundreds" of Project Managers in Sales Ops who are changing processes/rules monthly and adding more "layers" in order to justify their roles. (e.g. the new quoting tool is a joke!). Red Hat Culture & Values are disappearing quickly. People (or better management) say that" Red Hat is still Red Hat" after the IBM takeover. However everybody knows that this is not true as IBM is already stepping over Red Hat. My 2 cents that in 2 years Red Hat will be full blue.
