Pros
Great people. Company value driven mission of helping independent artists and unlock creativity. Holds tremendous growth opportunity.
Cons
Senior management strategies have not yet proven successful. Leaders tend to make quick decisions that are not well thought out. They failed to sustain or build upon the huge growth they attained during the COVID ecommerce boom.
Pros
- The company's mission: RB is genuinely committed to enabling artists around the world to make a living off their creations. It's a noble mission I identify with as an artist and a huge reason I'm committed to growing the company - The people: everyone at RB has a genuine creative side - whether design, music, film, photography - people are here because they are creative and think differently and want to be around engaging, funny, authentic people. There's literally no one I would say I don't like. - The vibe: the company is headquartered in Australia but has a 60sh person office in SF, and it creates opportunities to travel to Melbourne, communicate with unique people in a different part of the world, experience Australian culture, and as many Australian companies operate, they pride themselves on a work life balance. That exists heavily in SF and there are constantly wellness activities, free breakfasts and lunches, 4 weeks of PTO + additional sick days, and a stocked kitchen. Oh, and the comfortable and cozy office is completely covered in art and fascinating design which makes a super relaxing atmosphere to focus. - The work: RB has billions of designs from thousands of artists globally. This creates a ton of sophistication across the organization from a content moderation perspective, marketing relevant designs to users, legal perspective, big data and analytics - across the company we're dealing with extremely complex data pipelines, marketing platforms, creative solutions, and I've learned more working in this environment (for a creative marketplace) than any other company I've been at. I genuinely love my job because I have real responsibility and autonomy while being able to seek guidance and mentorship from my manager. - Benefits: 401k matching, stock equity, company events and happy hours, free food and drinks, a culture that actually wants people to have a life outside of work
Cons
- Bathrooms: only 3 bathrooms in the SF office, but we're moving to a sweet new location in downtown SF in a couple months that will remedy this - Data science: we're hiring data analysts and data scientists but we could use more quickly. Certain teams have analysts, but others don't, which does create an opportunity for people to grow and learn analytics, but can be a challenge if you're trying to do advanced analysis. This is a tough field to hire for and I'm confident the company is committed to it and will hire the right people soon. - Time zones: you need to prioritize your time working with Australia because they're across the globe and you only have a few hours of overlap. Not a big deal by any means because you primarily work with your team in SF, but if you value constant colocation with every individual in the company, then that will take some effort.
