Great pay and coworkers, deceitful leadership

Pros

You get to work with an insanely talented group of individuals on cool, impactful projects. The pay and benefits are amazing.

Cons

Leadership at the very top cannot be trusted. They'll pretend everything is fine and then layoff 20% of staff a week later. The CEO couldn't even be bothered to show face when announcing layoffs. Entire departments got cut with most employees not being there for longer than 6 months. All this happened after raising a $67 million round. A lot of us were planning to stay here for years and were promised job security when joining. We all got blindsided. I would think twice about joining until there is new leadership.

No vision, terrible leadership

Pros

- Smart, interesting, generally compassionate colleagues who balance out some of the instability and low morale. It's baffling how somewhere with so many amazing people can ultimately be such a nonconstructive place. - Challenging, interesting, unique model and work (during good times.) There would be such a great opportunity here if it were a better environment that cared about its people and their growth.

Cons

- Frequent "strategy" resets that are a symptom of lack of long term thinking, and lack of commitment or focus. Besides being destabilizing, it also means frequent firing and laying folks off. - Top leadership do not care at all about their people, including other leaders. They are willing to burn bridges and their reputation as is shown time and again. - HR/People doesn't report to CEO, which shows company's values. HR ultimately reports into team that claims to focus on culture and the people side of the org, but unfortunately does not at all reflect company's stated values around openness, curiosity, etc. Instead, shuts people down, does not foster open dialogue, is disconnected, and doesn't listen to colleagues. - Certain people should not be managing people -- forget fostering growth, they don't even communicate clearly and constructively causing frustrations and less productivity

No Vision

Pros

Smart and capable coworkers. Good compensation and benefits. Fully remote.

Cons

The business model is clearly failing and instead of pivoting to something else, they are just doubling down on what is not working. Leadership has no vision for what this company is supposed to be and it seems to change on an almost monthly basis.
