I have been working at Richer Sounds

    Pros

Fun environment and good perks. Good company culture and communication. I like working for RS and think they give good training. Promotions and sideways movements are always a possibility.

    Cons

There's a lot of technical information to take in, and this is always changing. They train well, but there's always a lot to learn.

I have been working at Richer Sounds for more than 10 years

    Pros

Richer Sounds is owned by Julian Richer, author of The Richer Way and Richer on Business. Back in the 90's / 2000's was a fun place to work. Good if you like TV / hi fi etc as you get to use some good tech

    Cons

In the 90's and early 2000's was a fun place to work, still ok but gone downhill a lot. Julian himself is a top bloke but as with any company one or two snakes have slithered into his good books over the years and are influencing the running of the company in a not too positive way. As with any company emphasis has to be on a making a profit, but not " at any cost " to employee happiness

    Advice to Management

When you ask your colleagues to be open and honest, to speak out about anything they feel is wrong and encourage people to come forward don't take the one sided view of the Deputy MD and decide that colleague has to go - as a company we have lost some good people this year in dubious circumstances

I have been working at Richer Sounds full-time

    Pros

Lack of controls means you can get away with being lazy if you want ( not me)

    Cons

Everyone seems to hide the truth from senior management as they fear for their jobs

    Advice to Management

Put proper controls and reviews in place instead of feedback forms which never get checked.

I have been working at Richer Sounds full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

RS has a close-knit culture, where all colleagues in the company get a voice and are able to communicate efficiently with one another - great for understanding why things are done a certain way. The company promotes from within, and would much rather give someone a chance to prove themselves if they are keen, than have to wait 10/15 years to be given a shot. The products are interesting too, as are the interactions with...

    Cons

Xmas is the main challenge. Being both retail and sales, there is no downtime during December or early January. Obviously some people enjoy the bustling trade that Xmas brings, but if you enjoy several weeks of rest at Xmas, then this definitely isn't for you. Additionally, expectations are high, and people are encouraged to go above-and-beyond (not a 'con' in my eyes, but job wouldn't suit someone who wants an easy ride...
