Pros

Your coworkers are the best people you will ever meet, willing to help you with any issue and walk you through things over the phone when you don't understand. The working atmosphere is generally upbeat.

Cons

Employees are not utilized correctly, haveing large client base has led to clients that have particular needs and become dependent on a single technician, well some would see this as a good thing it ends up getting in the way when the only person with the expertise needed is tied up at a client site for 3 days a week. Employees also do not recive proper recognition of skills in things that do not relate to either a Microsoft certification (to benifit their partnership level) or a Cisco cert (that does not apply to 99% of the clientele) is cast aside.

The management of River Run Computers takes great pride in servicing our clients with a well trained staff. While partnership levels are important to maintain levels of service with our manufacturers, the key to all our partnerships is working with vendors and manufacturers that bring benefit to our broad client base. While we strive to give our staff exposure to a wide variety of clients/technologies, logistically we cannot do this for all staff all the time. We continue to work for win/win/win scenarios – good for our clients, good for our staff and good for River Run. It is unfortunate that this individual did not express some concerns prior to departing or during the exit interview process to allow us the opportunity to make the working experience a more challenging career. We stress team interaction between the field technicians and our support desk technicians to avoid the “one tech” dependency. The fact that our clients do depend so heavily on River Run engineers supports that we are sending the right people with the right skill set.

Pros

Great people for the most part, but a few bad apples. Can be fun, always learning and creating solutions makes the day go fast. Good vacation time Great technical people especially seniors Great stepping stone to greater things

Cons

Management is ignorant and non-technical. Pay is low compared to working in a single environment where you can make $10-15k more a year, doing a lot less. Disjointed organization and communication. Laughable and lengthy processes that aren't even followed let alone known to many employees. Crazy billing expectations in terms of timesheets, instead of our competitors standard billable or non billable setup. Micro management of timesheets, client issues, guilty until proven innocent and even then, still some how your fault. Obsessive sales and project people cottling clients instead of letting the natural process of things occur, so bad often times that it hurts the client and technicians. Issues spiral out of scope in both hours and convoluting communications and perceptions both internally and externally because of this. No standard yearly raises for inflation. Lots of turnover due to the above issues.

Thank you for providing feedback in regards to your recent employment at River Run. We truly value the information we receive from current and past employees. The River Run team work hard to not only provide a valuable experience for our clients, but to also provide a great work environment for our staff. We are currently analyzing new training methods that will assist our engineers in obtaining certifications or necessary technical knowledge. The feedback we have received from our employees has encouraged us to prioritize this initiative. Our management team looks for ways to improve our processes and services for both our clients and our employees. We rely on the feedback and suggestions from internal employees to understand how we can provide a better service. We regret that the individual did not share these concerns prior to exiting the position. Building a solid team and communicating effectively with everyone on the team has always been a high priority at River Run.

Pros

Great Place to learn many different aspects of IT. Great group of people to work with. Company functions and team building events. Decent benefits. 401K. On the road out at client sites twice a day. Could be a good or a bad depending on what you are into.

Cons

Not a long term Career. Low pay scale for the amount of work. No training. Driven to always be billing. 50-60 hour work weeks. Salaried Position which rarely pays out over billing 40 hours billed to clients since the extra work is usually not billable. Mileage Policy is useless for people far from the office. Must be in the office and cannot work remotely if not scheduled for client work. Misuse or proper levels of Engineer sometimes having upper positions going out to do very simple basic tasks. Techs do many sales staff responsibilities but are not compensated for it. Long hours to keep clients happy with little pay off. Advanced seems to be on a whim or whenever management feels someone might deserve it. They seem to play favorites. No Profit Sharing. Free time (not client scheduled) should be used for more billing and not training. Management does not listen to suggestions from tech staff about the need for training and advancement. If there is training it is on items that are not needed such as Mac training for staff who never touches it. No opportunities for specializing. Engineers must know everything. Work life balance is completely on the work side of things. High turnover due to the items above.

We appreciate when employees, current or former provide us with feedback regarding their employment at River Run. The team at River Run is working hard to work with our employees and provide them with training and career paths that fit individual as well as company and client needs/wants. We have been actively looking for training programs that we can implement into the company so that Engineers can receive certifications. In addition to adding more training, the management team at River Run is reviewing many different aspects of the business. From salaries, benefits and advancement, we are looking to review each of these areas to provide a better work environment for all our employees. We work hard to create a positive culture within our company by providing fun activities and events for all our employees. Creating a solid team environment and providing our clients with the best service has always been the top priority at River Run.
