Best place I have ever worked!

Pros

Biggest thing for me is the time flexibility. I am totally in control of my own schedule and can come and go as needed. I get on really well with the rest of the team, and participate in regular get togethers. The salary and benefits are solid.

Cons

Sometimes the AC goes out in the office! The management team are pretty open with us about when things are going well or not so well. It's a startup, so it's going to be risky. Sometimes there is a lot to do. I'll have to put in nights and weekends regularly, but being able to control my own schedule helps.

There are better places to work

Pros

Flexible work environment; decent amount of autonomy; a lot of really great, sharp people on the team.

Cons

Constant hiring and firing of "consultants," which caused a lot of swirl on an already small and strapped team. There was very little long-term company direction or clear goals for the team to follow. The little direction provided seemed to change by the month with no rationale or clarity. And sadly, Roadtrippers has a lousy track record with female employees. There are very few, to begin with, but many of the women who join the team are fired or treated very poorly. The CEO was openly (verbally) critical of many female employees in the company and generally seemed to have very little respect for them.

More than just cool perks

Pros

There's the usual stuff (beer in the office, cool location, awesome coworkers, flexibility to work remotely, loads of vacation) of course. But that all kind of pales in comparison to the fact that the product is really, really awesome and the work I do is really interesting. Things have changed a lot, but I can say that I think that everything has been for the best. Personally, I found a niche that I could help grow, with the support of management, which has been a great experience.

Cons

Resources are limited (especially time) when a team is smaller, and sometimes it takes longer for management to get around to something you're waiting on, even if they hear you. In the past, it was an environment where things could change pretty quickly, but that's the nature of working for a start-up.
