Pros

-great place to develop people skills -has one of the best training programs for new starters -offers the chance to do meaningful work and change people's lives -safe work culture and atmosphere with open door policies; comfortable to speak openly to my boss -you have the potential to earn as much as you want -close team atmosphere -starting as a recent graduate, I was given the chance to develop skills I was taught in University -given autonomy to run my own desk and be accountable for my own success

Cons

My con is directed toward new hires and not the company: The people who have negative views on the processes in place are often the ones who don't follow the processes and are not successful. I would advise new starters to come into the job with no preemptive ideas that they already know everything. The processes and training are in place for a reason; because they work. The rest is up to the new hire to take advantage of that or not and be accountable for their own success.

This post should be in our corporate wiki. This is great advice to new hires. You also have a strong list of what is valuable to people here. - one of the best training programs for new starters -the chance to do meaningful work and change people's lives -safe work culture and atmosphere with open door policies -potential to earn as much as you want When I started the company these were goals I had in mind not only for our contractors we place, but more so for our staff. I see the growth and development of our people and I think it happens so much faster than in other companies. We really do strive to realize untapped potential in all of our people. Pros

There are pretty much no pros, except for the good training, a visually appealing office, and getting to work from home (which is only allowed due to the pandemic). Everyone’s hardworking and friendly (except management).

Cons

I worked here for over a year, but it didn’t take long to realize they completely take advantage of you here and work you to the bone, while they laugh to the bank. They don’t care at all. I guess I’m the fool for not leaving sooner (but it’s not easy to make this decision during the pandemic). High turnover has been their model since the beginning, so why change it. Their own core values are a joke to their own people. Management is a joke that doesn’t know the first thing about management, and belittles you with threats and sarcasm. It surprises me that the management in Calgary is able to hold the positions they hold… I guess they qualify their MDs and VPs based on low IQ, high ability to be condescending, low amounts of compassion, zero common sense, high pride, and a lack of hearing to even consider advice. I would not recommend anyone to work here nor be a client of Si, don’t waste your time. All the good reviews on here are staged and encouraged by the CEO, even though he will deny it. But I must say the CEO does a nice job of meeting everyone that’s new, I’d encourage him to keep this up because it’s great. But I feel as though behind the scenes he isn’t as friendly.

Thank you for the review, and the endorsement of the training. A few corrections. Work from home when the pandemic is over is 2 days in the office, 3 from home each week. We like the balance. People are hardworking and friendly, that is true. The recruiter role is not for everyone, and as we hire mostly new grads, many will find that recruiting is not the job they want. Turnover in the first year is 65%, the 2/3 that leave have great credentials on their resume from our training, and the 1/3 that stay, tend to stay a very long time and do well as recruiters, Account Executives and Managers. We do an anonymous 360 survey, which we just did last week on all managers. It is open to everyone on their team. Our average net promoter score for our manager is 62, which is exceptional, and only 2 were below 50. If there was a management issue I would expect to see it in the survey every six months. We qualify our Managers on previous performance as a recruiter, AE, and strategic contributions they have done. Our average client tenure is 14 years, some of our clients have been with us for over 25 years. We have long and successful client relationships. I don't stage any of the reviews, and I respond to all of them. Postive or negative. We work hard, are well trained and we work fast. It isnt for everyone and it can be hard if it isnt something you want to do. Training for a triathalon, or being part of a professional level sports team is also hard, lots of training, dedication and focus and if you are not excellent in your role, your coach will work with you to get your game up. I think our world is similar, when it works, its a great lifestyle, and when it doesnt, its time to find something that is a better fit. I wish you well, and I know your time at S.i. will always be a benefit on your resume due to the training and process you learned while working with us. With gratitude - Derek

Pros

When I first started I was one of the best recruiters at my branch for about a year. I worked with some amazing recruiters who became some of my good friends. Training is good and coming out learning a good amount about the business.

Cons

I worked at S.i couple of years ago. Looking at all the fake 5 star reviews I had to do my duty and give an honest review. It's a high paced place with no real return on the recruiters end. High turn over. Low Salary and compensation is very bad. The company takes 20% of the salary or total contract amount and the recruiter gets a low 1.5% of that 20%. The company does not care for the employees, perhaps this is the nature of recruitment but I wish for it to be different. As someone who now works in the tech world, I've realized how fake the culture was at S.i. As someone who has moved into an HR role and studied HR, the culture at S.i seems to be charming at first glance or the first couple of months. Then you realize it's a cut throat environment who takes advantage of getting new grads and new immigrants to work in a horrible job. CEO seems fine talking in person. I get a feeling he just get others to do the dirty work for him.

thank you for the feedback! always appreciate frank conversation! Regarding recruiter compensation, it was low compared to our peers, and here is what we did about it. We created create a work group of 9 recruiters and account executives and brainstormed a new recruiter compensation plan that is much more meaningful. Starting July first all new recruiters joining S.i. Systems (with or without experience, our training is phenomenal) start with a $50K base salary, commission of 3.5%, with annual salary increases of $5K in base, and an increase in commission to 4.5%, all this plus variable pay! Existing recruiters will get a pay raise to match their tenure. Its a good plan. I disagree we take advantage of new grads and new immigrants. We train new grads and immigrants, and they achieve their dreams. Most new grads pay off their student loans, credit cards, and move out of their parents house in their first year. We see our recruiters and AEs buying new cars in their second year, and many AEs bought their first home from the money earned at S.i. Regarding fake reviews, we ask every S.i. person who gets a promotion to put up a review of their experience in their previous role, good, bad, or ugly. We dont dictate what to say on glass door, it doesnt matter what we say, it matters what employees say. The ugly can often be the most enlightening, and we welcome it. Your review gives us unfiltered perspective, its great, it gives me the opportunity to describe the facts of our recruiter comp plan. If your tenure was at 2 years as per your review your base would be $60K on July 1. With variable, if you were one of the best recruiters, your total pay would have likely been over 90K. Whatever your new role in HR , I wish you the best, and hope that the training you received here will serve you well, and had a large play in your qualifications. With gratitude, Derek
