      Great while I was there but showed true colors during layoff

      I enjoyed the people I directly worked with, and there was a general

      Cons

      Management handled a layoff quite poorly. Large chunk of workforce was laid off due to bad financials, even tho during our town halls we were always told we were doing great. The severance we received was the worst I have heard of, and we didn't even get a heads up that this was going to occur in it's place. They really showed how much they truly cared about their employees with this move.

      Scoir is doing the hard work to change college admissions

      Pros

      Passionate leaders relentlessly focused on improving outcomes for the students. Lots of great hires recently, specifically bringing in seasoned Admissions professionals to the team. Benefits are terrific. Really terrific for such a small company. $0 medical for a family. Not only $0 premiums but also a fully funded spend account to cover any co-pays and deductibles. 100% matched 401k immediately vested.

      Cons

      More than doubling in size while transitioning to be fully remote during a pandemic. Choose any 1 of those 3 milestones on their own and they come with challenges. Put all 3 together and it creates a lot of challenges. Company values are written down somewhere but not put into practice. Little emphasis on team building and having fun.

      Ambitious and laudable mission; some folks mean well.

      Cons

      Completely uninformed about how high schools and colleges work together. Myopic view of what’s possible based on their steadfast belief in its excellence.
