I have been working at Sephora part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management listens to feedback, fun envionrment, allowes creativity and self expression, yearly raises, lots of gratis

    Cons

Hard to move up, expects more from you than what pay is worth, favoritism, when you get promoted to more responsibility (get certified for makeovers/facials, become a teacher for classes, become an elevated cast member) you don’t get a raise. They will schedule you full time hours without officially promoting you to full time so they don’t have to give you the benefits. No standards for makeup artists. Will certify anyone who is liked. This is the reason you can go to Sephora and come out butchered.

    Advice to Management

Allow your employees to become certified in all worlds so everyone can help out when needed. Have higher standards for employees and makeup artists, we are steadily gaining a reputation for bad artists. As makeup becomes more popular with social media, our employees should be on-trend and able to do those looks. We need better lighting, the bright white lights wash out the stage and it’s hard to see makeup applications. Start carrying Kheils and mario badescu. If you want to compete with Ulta, allow colourpop to have a full gondala of original products. A lot of people are disappointed that the only colourpip available in stores is mostly collaboration with Sephora.
