New Management team is a "Bros" club

Pros

The lower level people are great to work with and committed to their jobs.

Cons

The new president (Oct 2016) brought in all his "Bros" from his old company and did not even let internal people interview for advancement. There is now a leadership drain as people with years of experience are feeling displaced and are leaving the company. They asked the senior management to be loyal to the new president and then the new president stabbed several key leaders in the back. The new president will most likely not last long as his major contribution to "leadership" has been to pick an arbitrary date that the new software needs to ship (ready or not) and close a large international deal that was about 2 feet from the finish line when he started. AMN (the parent company) has no idea how to develop software and yet they continue to interfere with the process.

Pros

Every other job you ever have will look better in comparison Good location Free coffee and snacks Can work remotely (sometimes)

Cons

Management is about as transparent as a slab of concrete. The recent flood of positive reviews? Those aren't real. Management realized Shiftwise's reputation was awful on Glassdoor, and instead of taking the feedback seriously, they seeded the page with positive reviews and told employees at a company meeting to submit positive reviews too. It's pretty easy to tell the reviews are fake when they insult the employees and fawn over management. Company refuses to pay market rate, so you'll be underpaid by thousands (sometimes tens of thousands) No opportunity for growth and advancement Future of the company is uncertain Leadership does not listen to employees, no matter how much they claim to High turnover - people are constantly quitting or being let go Horrible communication about company goals, initiatives, progress and changes Obvious favoritism from many managers

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences related to ShiftWise. I am really sorry that your experience at ShiftWise did not match our intention of being the best place you have ever worked. I recognize that our organization is going through a significant change at the moment. During times of transition, it’s sometimes hard to see the clear path forward. As you are a current employee I would welcome the opportunity to have further dialogue related to the cons that you have outlined and see how we can course correct, specifically as it relates to you. Pros

There was a unique and caring culture here once, and most people wish it were still alive. Meeting with leadership is possible. You might get lip service, but you can have their ear for a minute. Some people still give a rip about doing things well. They don’t have power but continue to share their thoughts.

Cons

I want you to know that I feel betrayed and disrespected for not receiving the raises I negotiated two years in a row. It’s not about the money. It’s about value and trust. Realizing that this was happening to others, not just me, tore me up inside. People are nervous about losing their jobs because the reorganization has been slowly eliminating positions from the entire company over the last half year. Management has been extremely opaque, and their stories don’t match when questioned about the changes. I have been careful to collect knowledge from as many parties as possible, and I’ve come away with a chilling and dissatisfying collection of stories. The technology stack, which is a little funny, was made wildy difficult by a series of decisions to change stable elements of our application at the very last moment. The people responsible are no longer with the company, but it left a massive mark on both the developers and the application itself. Finally, corporate maintains a quiet but firm grasp on the company, restricting the flow of necessary resources including vital hardware and software licenses. Which has at times brought development to a screeching halt but more frequently to the sort of slow trickle which makes you think about calling a doctor.

Thank you sharing your experience with ShiftWise. Leaders at ShiftWise will make time to listen and implement improvements where possible. It is our goal to attract talented professionals by offering competitive compensation and benefits that match or exceed market rates. It is unfortunate that you experienced a compensation structure that didn’t meet your needs.
