Pros

Good product, frequent feature updates, free snacks, some nice people, big-name clients

Cons

Zero trust in employees, employees have no autonomy over their schedule, strict return to office, working hours, and remote work policy and borderline bullying if you don't adhere to them, no flexibility for things going on in your personal life. The CEO doesn't seem to care about what employees want. During all hands meetings when people ask questions about the return to office policy his answer was if you don't like it you can leave. Swears all the time, tells us we're doing great yet there are layoffs every quarter, no job security. I can't even tell you how many times teams and accounts have been restructured. And done with no input from the teams that are impacted by them. People being forced into roles completely different than what they were hired to do and if you push back you get let go. Management doesn't seem to know what they're doing and there's no support for where you want to take your career. If you don't participate in social activities it's counted against you. I was so excited when I joined based on what I knew of Similarweb and their painting the picture of this progressive, amazing place to work where you can excel in your career and make a lot of money doing so and have been very disappointed by how the company is actually run and the way employees are treated. If I had known it would have been like this I would have stayed at my last company.

Pros

- some people are ok - decent product

Cons

- Filter by countries and you will see the score for the London office - I am quite sure this review will be followed by at least 2-3 other positive reviews. They always do this - You get promoted only based on your friendship with the management, regardless of your performance. That’s a very common thing at this company. You will see people that are not even at the half of your performance and are getting promoted just because they are friends with who they need to be. - The most senior manager in London wants to control every little thing. He started to ask people what they could do to improve the culture. When people tell him what is not working, he threatens them with dismissal just because they dared to challenge them. - The same manager starts a motivational speech with “you have to stay motivated because we are paying you” - After all these reviews they keep saying how great they are and how employees should change their attitude to improve the culture - unbelievable - Micromanagement is at its highest level. You can even overachieve in targets, they will always find something negative to focus on. - There is no way you could raise your concerns with HR. They will just report it to the upper management and you will get in trouble.

Chris, SVP EMEA It’s hard to read this review, because I know how much effort your colleagues put into to creating a positive work environment. Those are the same colleagues who want to protect each other by posting the positive reviews you mentioned. Similarwebbers are trusted to manage their own work responsibilities, encouraged to be entrepreneurial. No one is looking to micromanage their work. We always take thoughtful feedback seriously and recognize that like every company, we can always strive to be better. We work as a connected team to grow and improve continuously and this desire to improve is genuine. We are all working towards the same goal of making Similarweb an incredible place to work. I would very much like to address your personal concerns directly, and encourage you to email me at christian.penfold@similarweb.com

Pros

Only pro is that you get to work with a bunch of talented and lovely colleagues.

Cons

Where do I start… Similarweb is the absolute worst company I ever worked for. Shortly after I joined, I already regretted it. But then one stays cause it doesn’t look good on the CV to leave again so soon..I assume that’s the only reason people stay, as besides that, working for this company is morally so wrong. It’s really hard having to do that in good conscience knowing about all the **** that is going on here. People are being let go constantly without prior warning. The reason will always be underperformance. The company sets completely unrealistic targets to begin with. If the best performer globally just about scratches 60% of target achievement, then that tells you all you need to know about how realistic targets are to achieve. If firing people was truly down to underperformance, they would have to let go of probably 70% of the sales team:D They strategically always pick the ones that have been with the company for less than 2 years as it is just so easy to fire them. With unachievable targets comes no earning potential. As a sales person that’s the most demotivating way to make you hate your job. Like mentioned before, the only reason people stay at Similarweb is for the tenure on their CV. Otherwise absolutely everybody knows they can earn more money elsewhere. And money is just one part. Working at Similarweb means not being appreciated as an employee at all but being stuck in a cycle of micro management where as an individual contributor you have absolutely nothing to say. Matter fact, not even your manager has anything to say, even if they wanted to. Decisions are being made top down, whether they make sense or not. Nobody questions or challenges anything cause they know that if they do, they’ll likely be gone in an instant. And Similarweb loves to praise their own, if you know you know. Rules are being made up as they fit their strategy and longer tenured reps that are producing the right numbers are even getting paid differently and being offered special agreements as a way to keep them from wanting to leave…not sure why management think that employees don’t talk to each other. But again, in the end, nobody calls them out on their *piep* and unfairness anyways, that’s why they get away with absolutely everything. All in all I can not recommend working at Similarweb at all.. the way the company is run is in no way sustainable. Whatever they tell you during the interview process, best believe it is not true. The only thing working in Similarwebs favour is the current job market with so many people looking for new jobs and the competition being high. Otherwise there’s no way anyone would stay here longer than they need to, or anyone would want to start working here. If you enjoy being micromanaged with mandatory office attendance that is being logged as if we’re not all adults that can be trusted, if you don’t mind working in sales but only sitting on your base salary as commissions are unachievable and if you don’t mind to be able to get fired any moment, then you can give it a go, otherwise, save yourself while you still can!
