Pros

- Free lunch, drinks and snacks in HQ - Surrounded by many creative and knowledgeable people - Free parking at HQ - Dogs allowed!

Cons

- A male-dominated company with definite sexism seen throughout - A very difficult place to "have a voice" as a female - A company that is very engineer focused and not customer focused - The company has an attitude of "build it and they will come". The company isn't Apple and must start listening to what customers actually want. - Certain management manipulates workforce

Pros

- Working with creative people - Annual company trip - Free lunch and drinks throughout the day

Cons

SmugMug used to be an excellent company to work for because employees were encouraged and respected.. The marketing team used to be a fantastic team of creatives who all wanted to do their best to make the team and company a success but over the last 18 months things haven't been great. Employees are demoralized and generally made to feel devalued. There's clear favorites and you’re not going far if you’re not one of them. There's an obvious favoritism to males and it's no shock that so many females have left the company. There's little point in complaining about it because you will be the one made to feel like you've done something wrong and you probably won't last much longer at the company. 3 female members of the marketing team have left in the past month and 3 men have been promoted to made up roles. If you're happy to sell out your soul then you'll thrive.

Pros

Great benefits, reasonable salary, annual company trip

Cons

Where to start... Years ago, I was beyond ecstatic to get an offer here. They cared about me, they cared about my family. I was given opportunities to grow my career, to be educated with skills that would start me down a path that would have kept me here forever. Then the co-founder left. The company floundered. Product Managers kill every idea the Support Heroes and customers have been begging for. Basic features customers have been begging for, for 7-8 years, still haven't been implemented. They hire VPs that don't know how to lead, that don't know the basics of the departments they are in charge of, and who have driven off dozens of long time employees. In some departments, sexual harassment is the norm, not the exception. We haven't released anything of consequence in years. They don't have a engineering roadmap. They don't fix bugs. They release broken 'minimum viable products', and then never improve them. When customer support complains, they're ignored and have more tools taken away from them, because progress. They said they wanted to focus on diversity, and now senior leadership is all male. Women leave this company in droves. Don't work here. It's bad now. If this company survives the next 5 years, I'd be shocked.
