Pros

Supportive of work-life balance and family, decent benefits, can work holidays for time and a half or take days off in lieu. If you like to travel, working as a trainer will have you on the road all the time. Support is a pretty easy gig.

Cons

Products are old and out-of-date OR in regards to the newer ones just plain unsuccessful. Management makes decisions behind closed doors and doesn't inform anyone of what they are doing or why. Changes come out of nowhere. HR used to be great but is non-existent now (new ownership has their own HR who doesn't know SMS employees). Benefits suck with Jonas owning the company. Staff can be VERY gossipy and cliquey and once you're on the outs with them, you're as good as gone. Layoffs are around every corner so watch out. And you really can't trust your managers here - they aren't forthcoming with any information. Salaries are AWFUL. Management now wants staff coming in early and staying late to help with the workloads piling up due to the never ending layoffs but will nickle and dime you if you have an appointment and need to leave 30 minutes early.

Pros

The customers and the colleagues (asides from senior management/executive team) were best part of working for this company.

Cons

Once upon a time, the company was an industry leader in hospitality technology but is now antiquated and often referred to by customers as a dinosaur. Customers accuse the company of "selling the dream" and falling far behind the competitive set rather than actually bringing them innovation in keeping with industry trends and demands. The company culture was one of empowerment and positivity. This is no longer true and the changes that began a few years back have taken a downward spiral with the direction and vision of the new parent company (Jonas) that acquired Springer-Miller from Par. The culture became less focused on empowerment of team members to better serve customers and rather promoting behaviors that directly conflicted with the core company value of Integrity.
