Pros
Extremely cool products you won't find anywhere else in Chicago, if you close sometimes you'll find free food in the break room that didn't sell that day, great coworkers, bright spacious building
Cons
There's probably not a business anywhere that's managed worse than Standard Market. There are barely any department or store level managers left as the partners didn't want to pay them anymore, so they were fired or demoted or are overworked and basically useless. Nothing gets done or changes (including employee reviews or raises or promotions, despite what they tell you to your face) and no one really cares what you have to say, regardless of how much you know and can do or how much business you bring in. Employees are not valued AT ALL, and management is having an awful time hiring people (unfortunate for the workers, who work the equivalent of 3 peoples' jobs but get paid for 1, and the Market is always always always understaffed). Most knowledgeable good people either leave or get fired for little reason, and with morale so low and staff taken so advantage of, it's not surprising that sales have plummeted this year and they even sold their warehouse. I don't see a bright or thriving future, which is sad, because it's such an amazingly cool place. Shop there while you can, just don't work there!
