Game Over for Steelwedge

Pros

The obviously fake positive reviews posted by you-know-who are hilariously easy to spot.

Cons

Steelwedge is done. The most recent layoff expunged the last remaining US subject matter experts of the product. How am I supposed to support my accounts when clueless juniors keep giving me the runaround? The sales team - who I argue is what's been keeping the company afloat - was already decimated in the last two years. Now you take an ice cream scoop out of the brains behind the product. Weak sales team. Weak engineering team. Both appearance and substance are gone. You are doomed and you don't even know it.

CEO = CE-No, How not to run a company

Pros

First off, the positive reviews are made up. they burry all the recent 2016 and all 2015 bad reviews. Note, new CEO entered November of 2014 so the trend of recent bad reviews are not a coincidence. Prior to the recent CEO and NEW leadership that has entered this company. It had some promise, on the way up. Steelwedge had its growing pains, but at least had relevant leadership that had a vision. Today, this company is a shadow of itself with no clear vision from this leadership. This decline started November of 2014. When your Pro's are your benefits, there is a problem. As a company, you would hope your Pros are your leadership and vision, plus the people that are trying to put everything in place. The people who are here are good people, unfortunately we are being led down an unsuccessful path. We do not live in Ruby Hill, we are hard working employees looking for some TRUE leadership and want to be a part of a winning organization.

Cons

Let's start at the top: CENo = Was once a customer, but is now our leader???? Who thought that this would be a good idea. Came in with some lofty sales goals, even brought in his team from a previous company. Well, these lofty sales goals, NOT EVEN CLOSE. Nothing wrong with previous sales leadership, we will get to the new leadership soon. As a leader, it is easy to rally your troops when things are going good. However, when you are hitting a rough patch, it says a lot about a leader to exude confidence and rally your troops to keep working for the ultimate goal. Well when the CENo decides not to address the troops at the holiday party, well, you kinda get an idea that he may not be the right man for this job. Sales Leadership = Dwelling on past success before you have an idea of the new lay of the land can come back to bite you. Funny how there was a semi full team of inside and outside sales teams when this new leadership started. Hard for a new leader to get troops to rally when you berate the existing sales team and point out that they will be shown the right way to do things. Well, when new leadership fails to produce..... You tend to blame others for your failed leadership. What do you expect to accomplish with the pipeline with new reps who don't know how to sell this product. How is sales leadership going to train, when they cannot even sell this product. A whopping 2 sales in 2015!!!!! Way to go team!!! Marketing = When the Marketing team cannot get a hold of the CMO, because the CMO cannot keep their own calendar. You know that is a recipe for disaster. One updated product sheet from March to December is not productivity. At least you changed the color and the logo. When good productive employees are let go, to keep those who play the brown nose game, that does not boost morale for others still employed. It questions decision making from the top and it does not boost confidence moving forward.

Pros

Steelwedge was a great place to learn. Now there is no scope at all for leanings. Golden days are gone.

Cons

No hikes. No job security. No strong roadmap or vision. No new big logos from past 2+ years. Bad CEO with group of incapable sales team. CEO invested lot of money on marketing and sales teams but no use. Funds have been diverted to incapable teams who struggling a lot to get at least new big logo from many years. CEO, Marketing and Sales teams should stop blaming the product. Many of our competitors are doing excellent sales with what they have. Senior management always takes care of only top 20 talent. No job safety and respect if you are not in top talent pool Million Tons of confusion/doubts about company’s growth and job security. Many teams worked throughout the year (no holidays, weekends…. ). But no salary hikes. Very very bad…. HR team is fit for nothing. HR head is very good in rolling out layoffs. This team is super good in conducting meaningless meetings and chocolates distribution for top 20. Nothing for average and above average employees.

We appreciate your feedback that Steelwedge is a great place to learn. We have made huge investments in re-engineering our product platform. Recent big logo wins and existing customers deciding to upgrade to our latest product platform is great validation that we are moving in the right direction. We feel our top talent plays a key role in driving our success and we are aware that our face-paced environment is not the best fit for everyone.
