Pros

Yearly gifts and bonuses are a plus. Some fine and talented people can be found in the ranks. Location was selling point but hardly compensates for the abuse inflicted.

Cons

The management team are selfish users. Ideas stolen. Ambition systematically extinquished. Veteran employees devour the new in something akin to the "feeding of the lions" scene from the original "Spartacus" film. Management steps aside with blind eye as new employee's are eaten alive, limbs torn from the torso, screaming for justice. Or, as an active participant in the feeding frenzy. Layers upon layers of "management" serve to insulate decision makers from employee input. As a result, decisions rarely have relevance. Innovation is considered treason in this "sick" and dysfunctional organization. The culture suffers from narcisssism and vindictiveness. The majority seem consumed with personal agendas focused upon maintaining lucrative salaries (for the area) to the detriment of the corporation's greater good. Mediocrity rules and is the standard. Professionalism takes a holiday all year long. There is no such thing as a confidential communication especially if it can be used to "incite" drama. Results are unimportant. Who you know and which group you belong to determines outcome. If you're fortunate enough to have been "born" into the business, or have won the admiration of one who has, no worries. Otherwise, It is all personal so beware what you say. The pettiness of management is only excelled by the company's arrogance in working against their employee's interests.

Pros

There are no pros to working at Colony Brands. Any review that is positive here is a plant.

Cons

90 percent of the employees are really not employees at all. They are called temporary employees. Many of these "temporary employees" have worked there for 15 to 20 years. All that time working 40 hour weeks. Now that we have National Health Care policy, Colony Brands has found a loophole and has them working 30 hours per week or less so that they are not required by law to pay for their insurance. Temporary employees who have been there 5, 10, 15, 20 years now are being required to take 12 weeks off this year to average 30 hours or less. . They have no benefits; retirement; not time off for holidays, sick time, vacation, etc. If they miss work, they will not be paid. There are a few FULL TIME EMPLOYEES. Not many. Those people talk about everyone else and complain about them. They seem not to realize that it is all those "worker bees" (the 90 percent) who do all the work. It is a very negative company. They really need a union to guarantee fairness. They hold the carrot of "possible" insurance in 2016, to 10 percent of those 90 percent, to make them work harder. Shameful that sweatshops like this still exist. Moral is so low, just looking around at them makes me tired.

Pros

Decent starting pay. Occasional free food on break. There really aren't a whole lot of pros to working for this place. If you just want to work during the Thanksgiving or Christmas season you may get lucky and have a 40 hour week or two. If you live at home with your mother and can afford not to have money, then go for it.

Cons

No benefits. Almost impossible to get a promotion. Management lies and changes their answers to important questions all the time. No one give you a straight answer. They won't even tell us how the incentive system works. When you finally start getting regular incentive they change the rules on how you do your time card to trick you out of what little incentive you do get. During the off season (every month except for November and December) hours are basically non-existent. Moral here is so low it is disgusting. All you hear is complaining all day from employees. They also allow harassment from other employees which I did not find favorable. When you do get laid off (and you will, a lot), they tell you fifteen minutes before your shift is over that you are not coming in tomorrow or any day after until they call you. Their free health clinic is a joke. I made an appointment, and they laid me off that night so I was ineligible to actually have the appointment the next day, and I have not been called back since. They literally take months in deciding new positions just to keep you clinging to the hope that you may actually be able to get a more stable position, and then in the end they give it to someone who is unqualified that has an "in" with management. Even stable positions are unstable as they are not supposed to ever lay off fork truck drivers, and have recently laid off two of them. This is a terrible place to work and I would not even wish it on my worst enemies. I have a suspicion (as do others) that they give out negative job references for other places that you apply, just to keep you in their clutches a little longer. I in no way merit a bad job review as I have had over 100% on my incentive every week and have shown "Outstanding Performance". The only people I have ever seen leave this place are either so fed up that they quit, or bad employees that they allow to take other jobs so they can suck more people in. The only way to separate from this place is to quit, which is what I am doing. If you ignore this and decide to take a position at this place, you will quickly see that this review is 100% accurate, and when you see that it is true, then run as fast as you can and never look back.
