Interesting work but no benefits

Pros

Opportunities to develop for new-ish technologies. Flexible working arrangements. Formal stock plan in place.

Cons

No career progression. Apart from annual leave, no benefits. No sick pay, no private pension, no medical insurance, no life insurance. I gather all other locations, India and US have reasonable benefits. UK treated like poor relations.

Pros

Good in convincing during interview and show rosy picture of the company.

Cons

1. Salary looks good in paper not in reality.. i. Promise of stock options in offer letter. But after you join they never give you the formal documents for stocks. So they use stock as bait to hire new talent. The chances of going to public is thin or almost not there. As the work and market share is not they great. Many startups are working in the same line. So whatever stock paper they give is having zero value. ii. PF is very minimal say Rs 500-900 Range. So the equal contribution of employer also less. This amount they add in the salary structure to make the offer letter more lucrative to cheat more talents. iii. With a strength of 30 employee (dev + testing + document + support) 12-15 employee left themselves or has been asked to leave within a span of 1 year to 5 months. As they lacked enough funding to support them. iv. You will not get your salary at the end of each month. Sometime you will get it on 2nd of a month, sometime 4th of a month and sometime 10th of a month. It will screw your own personal commitment to others. v. HR is just a puppet in the hand of management. The management from director level have only12-14 years of experience never handle people before. You can expect how faulty he can be when dealing with employee that also in an environment where HR is puppet in his hand... vi. Whatever advertisement and liking you see in facebook those all are created by sales/marketing team. Has got nothing to do with reality. 2. i. Not a great technology to work on. They use open solaris and provide a nice GUI to that which also got copied from Oracle. Not much development or testing they do on it. There are many such Indian startups working on the same. So the initial curve might look good but the continue to grow is questionable. The company don't have enough skill in storage domain to continue. Nimble and Nutanix is far far ahead of them, they can only dream. ii. When don't have much domain knowledge won't able to support the technology. As whatever they are selling it's the technology developed by SUN a long back. They are just earning their bread from Sun's work by wrapping it with nice cover. 3. If you join there be prepared to search for new job in one fine day without any reason.. 4. Communication is the major problem. All in the company work in different direction and have different opinion. Very nice environment for employee to get confused to what to do in few days... Whom to listen to ? 5. You would be asked to work on national holiday as well 26th Jan/15th Aug. Which is a crime. Government should take tough action on such Startups.

Pros

If you keep clear of the constant political drama, you'll find some quality people working there. Depending on several factors, Tegile might offer a pretty good salary.

Cons

Selling what amounts to polished up, 15 year old technology. The executives DEFINITELY have their favorites. Don't cross them! After a few months with the company, you'll realize that the founders saw this as a get rich quick scheme; but now they can't figure out how to cash in. Without adequate leadership at the top; politics, back-biting, and revenge are the standard for this corporate culture.
