I have been working at Telstra full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I found the company culture great on a personal basis they have free fruit and drinks most days and everyone will say hello and have a chat.

    Cons

The management is very Australia focused and is a bit outdated, getting anything from the Australian teams can be difficult as most seem unwilling to account for the time difference. It's not easy to get access to all the tools as there are too many systems to control everything.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing the changes but remember the international side of the business, put more thought into how you trade outside APAC, having all your focus and resources in Australia doesn't help in the rest of the world.

I worked at Telstra full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      The people working in operationals

      Cons

Senior Managers don't value operational staff, too much blame culture. Poor processes and systems. Senior managers only interested in their own career progression.

      Advice to Management

Resolve the systems and processes to improve customer experience and employee morale.

I have been working at Telstra

      Pros

Working from home, free fruit and soft drinks, discounted gym, standard pension and benefits. Bottom tiered staff are always friendly and helpful, their culture is truly special. Actively championing diversity in the workplace. Keep it up.

      Cons

The great culture isn't widespread and doesn't travel upwards in a lot of areas. Politics-driven, siloed, backwards thinking, manipulative and poor decisions. Manager doesn't care. Has told the team to care less. Has said they are looking for another job and doesn't blame the team if we do the same. Will throw you under a bus though. Very poor guidance and support all round. If you challenge the issues, you'll regret...

      Advice to Management

Stop sweeping issues under the carpet. Take charge. Learn from your mistakes, listen to your staff and customers. Care about your customers and staff instead of treating them like numbers. Invest in people, especially the ones who want a long term career. Lots of people work hard and don't see the basics like general support let alone the rewards. This is why you churn staff.
