Management leave a lot to be desired, sadly. Staff are called off often the same day their shift is, due to low levels of booked customers and can even be called back the same day due to high levels of walk-in customers. Members of staff are expected to learn 3/4 board games PER WEEK in their free time and members of staff aren't even encouraged in this venture by being allowed to borrow games from the game library home to learn. In reality this can even work out to members of staff spending more time learning games in their free time for the job than time spent on the job being paid. The pressure to get cash from customers is ludicrously high, expecting members of staff to make sales when many customers just aren't interested in eating / drinking to the levels management 'need' them to. This often lead to me having to be 'too attentive' towards customers, making the customers experience worse. Shift patterns can make social life a struggle too. To no surprise the staff turn-over is HIGH. I took this job to share and encourage others in my passion for board games, however in the end I found the culture of the workplace was becoming detrimental towards my love for the hobby.
