      Pros

Company truly cares about you as a person with great matching 401K, respect with work-life-balance, and good mentoring programs

Older cultured company. Many of the employees have been there for 20+ years and don't want to change their ways.

I worked at The Hanover Insurance Group full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      Great food in the cafeteria

      Cons

They work you to death. Strictly monitored with weekly production reviews. Constantly pressured to meet unattainable goals.

      Advice to Management

Management smiles in your face but doesn’t want you to advance because it jeopardizes their positions to have someone with skill sets outside of what they mold employees into.

      Pros

Innovative wellness programs including custom live guided meditations, a virtual and onsite garden clubs, lgbtqa friendly benefits, flex work arrangements. Co-workers are, caring, smart and hard workers.

      Cons

Inconsistent work experiences based on department/manager. Not enough women/minorities in leadership. However there are initiatives to improve this.

I worked at The Hanover Insurance Group full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Flexible PTO Property and Casualty licenses are paid for by the company

      Cons

No room for advancement Toxic local environment fueled by office politics Misleading bonus compensation Basically a call center. If you're looking to have a job simply to get a paycheck and work in the same position without any thoughts of vertical advancement, then this is the perfect position for you. But if you actually care about your career path and do not want to see yourself working in the same position for...

I have been working at The Hanover Insurance Group full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plan with 10% discount, gym facilities on campus

      Cons

Inflexible attendance policy - any more than 5 instances of calling out, whether for sick time, needing to take care of a child who is home from school for a snow day or being sick themselves, or any other reason, can and will be held against you when the company is considering you for a promotion, a new position you apply to elsewhere in the company, or for a raise at yearly review. Advice to Management

Consider impacts on employees more carefully before instituting changes. Increase transparency. Consider whether an attendance policy that has repeatedly led to excellent employees leaving is worth keeping.

I worked at The Hanover Insurance Group full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Bennies are not bad for the industry, especially 401k. PTO days are hard to work with.

      Cons

Way too many disconnected systems and work arounds. People leave and don't get replaced by the same experience. Managers can't deal with it all. Everyone who works in a claims departments knows there's always too much work - job security at least - but here it's really hard.

      Advice to Management

Step back and look at what you are doing.
