Pros

Some of the people (not the leadership team) are wonderful people. I have some genuine friends who I made from working there.

Cons

Where do I start, and what can I say that hasn’t already been said in previous reviews? It is with deep regret that working at the RSA drove me into a deep depression - and I know that I’m not the only one. The leadership team seem absolutely hell bent on self destructing this once prestigious institution. The turnover is absolutely massive and if you’ve worked there longer than a year, you are generally considered a long term employee. This didn’t used to be the case! Once upon a time, many employees were happy and stayed for decades - this has all changed now. There are talented people who work so incredibly hard and very little is done to appreciate them. I spent many a lunch time crying in the toilet and I cried on my way home at least once a week because of the stress handed down to me, and anything I did achieve was not appreciated. The leadership team are beyond shocking. There is absolutely no concern whatsoever for wellbeing. Many people have to take time off for stress due to the shocking conditions. If you do have to take time for yourself, you are often looked down upon when you return, and it ends up being used against you later down the line. In terms of company objectives, it is constantly changing and everyone feels confused about what is actually happening or what they’re meant to be doing. The mission seems to change all the time and there is a lack of structure when it comes to employee development (there is no space or even discussion around career progression.) I’ve never felt more betrayed and humiliated in a role than when I worked at the RSA. I’m now slowly trying to find my spark again and I’m so thankful to have left. Please - if you’re considering working here, I beg you to think again! All of the poor reviews on here are linked to the same patterns. Workplace bullying is not a joke - it has affected who I am as a person and I urge you to not consider working here if you value your mental health.

Pros

RSA was once a place that fostered a positive culture and valued the contributions of its employees. Unfortunately, this has been replaced by an environment where management's poor decisions and favoritism have taken precedence, leading to the current state of affairs.

Cons

I am writing to share my thoughts on the work environment at the RSA office. Having spent a significant amount of time in this organization, I feel it is important to highlight several negative aspects that have contributed to creating an exceptionally toxic atmosphere. I hope this feedback will help potential employees make an informed decision about joining RSA. First and foremost, the management at RSA is exceptionally poor. Managers primarily promote those who, to put it delicately, know how to ingratiate themselves, without regard for the actual competence and experience of the employees. As a result, individuals who work hard and have substantial experience are overlooked and undervalued. This leads to widespread dissatisfaction and frustration among the workforce. Consequently, 90 percent of the experienced staff have left this organization, leaving behind only those who are "patted on the back" for being compliant workers. Those who remain are mainly individuals who do not stand out for their skills but are willing to comply with every whim of the management, further exacerbating the problem of lack of professionalism and competence within the company.

Pros

The RSA has an incredibly devoted, enthusiastic, and supportive staff collective who consistently go the extra mile in their work. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and incredibly empathetic. During my time here I've had the pleasure of engaging with one of the most intelligent, imaginative, and friendly teams I've ever worked with.

Cons

I arrived during one of the most distressing periods that the RSA staff has experienced in recent times. The new leadership has caused considerable detriment to the staff body by implementing changes in the organisation's strategy and staffing structure without prior consultation with its staff. The mandatory requirement of being in the office for three days a week lacks substantial business justification (upon consulting with HR, they explained 'this is just how it is'), which isn't particularly accommodating for working parents or staff with caring responsibilities. The effectiveness of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives raises significant doubts, as they are not fully integrated into the organisation's mission, objectives, and values (important note: I've never witnessed senior management attend a DEI session organised by staff). The rate of staff turnover is alarmingly high, surpassing anything I've observed in any of my previous workplaces; leaving do's became a normal occurrence. There isn't any opportunity for training or development.
