Pros

The people that make Tobi run are the junior and mid level associates and they are by most accounts, great people. It's what really made it bearable, being in a place where executive management was so awfully inept and mind-bogglingly ignorant.

Cons

Where would anyone begin? The utter lack of professionalism is astounding. If people put in their two-week notice, they're rather fired on the spot. The CEO will say things to vendors and people that Tobi enters into business contracts with that are entirely inappropriate. He has called his warehouse employees "rats that he doesn't care about" in front of other employees before. He consistently will tell people that he's the sole reason why Tobi moves forward and that no one else matters (if forward is actually what you'd call it....everything Tobi does is a bit backwards and if it had been effective and pragmatic leadership, Tobi would have hit certain milestones a long, long time ago). He changes his mind dramatically about 4 times a day about something, maybe once on a good day. Thus no strategy/execution ever really has a chance to develop well. Strategy is derived from research on the web for a day or two and this methodology will be adopted over qualified people hired to do the task that they have years of experience doing. There is no concept of delegation. He's entered into contracts with vendors with extremely loose regard for fulfilling his monetary commitments for the services these vendors have provided. There is very much this, "Whatever...let them try to sue us" mentality. Anything that is said will likely not happen, or will change, or is just completely false. Hiring practices are absurd and shady and on the verge of being illegal. Anyone put in a position of leadership is someone the CEO is friends with or is related to. If you are a 'yes' man or woman, you’ll be fine. But if you actually follow your intuition and can think for yourself, you will wear out your welcome very quickly here. There is no sense of investing in people. There is no belief in investing in and facilitating a culture where people can thrive and methodically and strategically move forward through trial and error. There is a culture of control and control by fear, not a culture of inspiration and thought-provocation. There have been actual stated discussions of looking for young and attractive Asian girls to bring in for interviews. This type of sketchy/shady etiquette is indicative of the culture that the leadership furnishes. Tobi hires young people that they can squeeze as much work out of without paying them competitive wages. These people tend to be really bright and genuinely good people, but they'll never have a chance to really move up or make reasonable income. The salaries that Tobi pays out by industry standards are ridiculously low. The bonus program is a joke...completely nebulous without any real numbers or targets to try to hit. It's just based on interpretation and what executive management thinks you should get. Needless to say, Tobi was the most dysfunctional and morally gray company I've ever been a part of. Company culture, core-values, leadership, professionalism, organization, execution.....all terribly awry.

Pros

The entry level people are very friendly and helpful.

Cons

The management will hear your input, but will not give you feedback. They can fire you on the spot if the wife of the CEO disapproves of you. They feed you cheap food to make it look like theyre a cool start-up.
