Pros

Free parking, coffee and snacks.

Cons

This company has absolutely no vision. There is no growth expected, rather will the company go down fairly soon. CEO is very abusive to employees. Many employees have to work overtime without getting paid (it's discouraged actively to report any overtime).

Pretty much a joke...

Pros

Good Berkeley location in a remodeled house

Cons

I suspect the CEO has been writing these positive interviews... The product is an extreme niche visualization tool. There is virtually zero marketing. haven't changed their website in years. They expect Sales just to pure cold call. After that doesn't work out, the CEO sends you a TERMINATION email after a few months. The company survives on its maintenance stream from legacy customers. When this new office opened, they made you take your shoes off. Yes, you walked around barefoot. During one sales kick-off, the CEO left after 1.5 days, said he had to go home to take a nap. For any kind of a hope, they need VC but the CEO won't do that because he knows any VC firm will replace him. Not saying this place is the complete pits- but before you work there, ask some real hard questions.

Tom Sawyer Software Response

To the best of our knowledge, all reviews are from unique former and current employees of Tom Sawyer Software. We have confirmed that the CEO wrote one review as he is also an employee of Tom Sawyer Software. With the rise of graph databases and other relational and interconnected data, it is clear that graph visualization and analysis products are integral parts of a rapidly growing market. People in all industries need to analyze and visualize interconnected information to be able to interpret it and make good decisions. Today, Tom Sawyer Software produces the software industry's most advanced graph visualization and analysis technology. This is evident by our large user base that includes well-known organizations in an array of industries. In the last several years, our Marketing, Sales, and Solutions departments have evolved and grown. The Marketing department hosts Meetups and webinars, manages social media channels, and attends local and international trade shows and events. Marketing also develops new content and demonstrations for our website, newsletters, and other channels to inform our users. There are many additional efforts underway to enhance the marketing of the company, and we acknowledge that building a new website is one of them. Likewise, our Sales and Solutions departments meet regularly with prospects and customers, and pride themselves in providing excellent training, services, and support, for products that are very highly regarded. Like many companies, Tom Sawyer Software relies to some degree on its ongoing sales and services to fund operations. The company has been profitable for many years and has some opportunity to operate as it chooses to. Venture Capital and Private Equity are certainly options to consider. We cannot comment as to what actions we may take, or an investor would take, but any decisions about executive management and organizational approaches must take into consideration the best course of action for our very complex and sophisticated technical business. With regard to the location of the company, we recently built and occupied the new Tom Sawyer Software building in Berkeley, California. This is a brand new, modern, 2-story commercial building that is far from being a remodeled house. The decision to enforce a no-shoes policy is to maintain the beautiful new carpets and hardwood floors. Additionally, we agree that any candidate should ask hard questions, and certainly the hiring company should also ask hard questions during the recruiting process to ensure a successful partnership. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
