I worked at Travis Perkins full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good rates of pay compared to other employers in the area (you get day rate regardless of hours worked, with an average of a 48 hour week calculated over 16 weeks).
They will offer a training path for HGV licence from van driving in exchange for a minimum term contract.

    Cons

Long hours, no set break schedule for some types of shifts (sometimes worked 7-8 hours before taking a break). Very bad treatment from lower management and loading / forklift staff (sometimes foulmouthed). Will overload vans and set delivery times that are impossible (for ex deliver 1000 kg of kitchen furniture to a upper floor via stairs in 20 minutes). Office staff is only interested in ticking the boxes, complete disregard for parking issues, length of walking from vehicle to delivery address, hours of work or vehicle defects if you do not complain loud enough. No gps provided, occasionally you have to use your own phone for contact with customers or base office.

    Advice to Management

Implement appraisal policy for lower management partly based on employee review. Reduce hours worked, especially on "access crews". Review delivery times for flats. Fix barcode issues. Review and make staff aware of grievance procedure.

I worked at Travis Perkins full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Role was close to home

    Cons

A tough environment to work in without support or encouragement from management. There was a culture of letting employees go for failing to meet targets. No support in place. Branches are often too close to one another to produce effective sales.

    Advice to Management

Support, encourage and think carefully before letting good reliable employees go. Poor manager at branch.

I worked at Travis Perkins full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    I left this awful company.

    Cons

Company I was working for under the TP group didn’t have a clue by far the worst company I’ve ever worked for (Primaflow F&P)

If your face fits and you’re a yes person, then you’ll be fine.

No consistency and lack of leadership.

No HR team on site, everything has to be done over the phone and when you do get through to someone they are unhelpful at best.

Day to day issues reported to the management team and just ignored.

I could go on and on...

If you want a guaranteed headache everyday then this company is for you.

    Advice to Management

    None because they don’t listen.
