Pros

Founders succeeded in their previous business investing in real estate, so they know some things about business. Life/work culture is like joining a college frat, if you're into that sort of thing. If you're young, white, and looking for some meaning to fill a void in your life, this might be the company for you.

Cons

Recently, all engineers were asked about their commitment to the next pivot, and everyone decided to leave. Employees are treated like faceless, replaceable workers and paid 50-70% of market rate. No defined career paths/ladders. Executives' previous experience doesn't translate into building software products, and they have pretty much nothing to show for nearly 3 years of work. CEO is a high-functioning sociopath with an ego problem (hint: "Rex" is a name he gave himself), surrounded by leaders who religiously worship him. Have you seen the "Ethos" page on the website?

Pros

You probably will not get fired if you work 12+ hours per day.

Cons

50% below-market pay. "Stock" awards are not real stock, they are simply profits that will be diluted infinitely if the company ever becomes profitable. Company values are an attempt to trick workers into low pay and loyalty in the name of the public good. Company's only real values are profits for the owners. Employees are treated as commodities. Execs live in a echo chamber on insanity. The owner changed his name from Peter Reynolds to Peter Rex. Seriously. The CEO of Investres, the real estate company being cannibalized to prop up the massively unprofitable Trustwork, is a childhood friend of the owner with no qualifications other than a limitless capacity for brown nosing. 90% of InvestRes (really named Avesta. Look it up) execs have quit in the last year. Most of Trustwork is quitting as well. Truly an awful place to work.
