Pros

Free beer on a Friday, gym, free parking

Cons

I quit my full time job after 9 years to work here, they pressured me into working less than my notice as they were 'so keen to have me on board' and after 3 weeks they took me and friend into another room and 'let me go'. They let me work all the way up to 6 o clock on the Friday evening before deciding there were no jobs, and in front of my friend who was staying. They knew what they were doing as I didn't want her to have any repercussions. The free time to Snowdon is basically finding out of you're one of 'their' people and if you're not they let you go. That's it, plain and simple. They don't like you, they sack you, regardless of how hard you work.

This is clearly a fake review. Anyone who has worked at UKFast will know this as there are a number of inaccuracies. Firstly we don't "let people go" in front of friends. Secondly we don't finish at 6pm on a Friday, we finish at 5pm. Thirdly We employ all sorts of quirky and unusual characters, myself included! We value effort over skill. No one ever lost their job at UKFast for trying hard. That's ridiculous. We do not value highly skilled people who think the world owes them a living! We love people who want to contribute and make a difference. These are the people we love and the ones that excel. Finally, it's also unlikely that we'd take on someone who has been at the same company for 9 years as we value the experience people accumulate from variety. We look for people who get dissatisfied and are searching for the perfect role.

Pros

Amazing, inspiring people. It is honestly such a privilege working with some of the kind, caring, hard working, ambitious individuals at UKFast. Also: cool office, events (although it would seem that no employees actually get to join in on these events anymore other than the events team),gym, bar, blah, pr, blah....

Cons

UKFast hire and hire and hire which is great, a great sign of development. The brutality of the way they 'let go' of staff based on 'not being the right fit' is something that has been highlighted a few times but the biggest shame about this company is it fails to see that retention is just as vital as growth. I was 'let go' of but still have a lot of close bonds with a few people that still work there. It is horrible to see such amazing individuals get trampled on. These lot will say nothing, just because of their own personal loyalties to the company. They are overworked, not because they have to be mind, but because they care enough to want to put that extra effort in to do the job right, and they are given a shed load to do. They are underpaid massively and to put the cherry on the cake, they have to then grit their teeth and suffer in silence when they find out all the new starts are on higher salaries than them. There is no HR department so no one to escalate issues and concerns like this to, no reviews to track progress and make sure you're happy as an employee, etc. Having now moved on into a different business, I'm genuinely shocked by the difference. And its these differences that make me want to stay at my job now for a much longer time, rather than my friends who I can see are clearly suffering in silence. There will eventually be a straw that will break the camels back. I have to say, I am now so so relieved that I was fired as its clear to see the novelty of that big shiny office does wear off! Yes, you're a quirky fun business. But come on, business is business and at the end of the day you need to be getting the basics right.

There's one big problem with this company...

Pros

The people. Lovely, caring unique people who work hard and become forever friends. Seriously you will meet some wonderful people here. The office is obviously a nice place to work with a big lounge area and a gym where there's yoga classes. The training is such a bonus for people who want to develop their skills, and its good the recruitment team don't just look at exam results. You don't have to have had all the best grades at school or university, or even have done uni. It's your personality that counts and if you want to achieve, you can. I learnt a lot, working here. You get your birthday off as well as pizza after sports events like the 10k.

Cons

CEO. He likes to do the whole "look at our benefits" thing when replying to these reviews but its not selfless. They're a distraction from his behaviour. If you don’t believe me, go for a job where you have to work with him and get to know him. He might make you think he’s sincere at first but wait until he loses his temper or is really disrespectful towards someone (there is one person in particular he is horrible to, ask anyone who works/used t0 work there) The benefits are obviously perks and people appreciate them but they're a marketing investment. Nothing more. “What’s that? Your friend got fired without warning because he ‘wasn’t the right fit’ and wasn’t allowed to come and say goodbye – never mind, why not work it off in the gym or remember you can have maternity pay that's above the very minimum. This is a company that has used nearly naked women to sell stuff and dressed attracteive female employees up in hot pants for IT exhibitions. I'm sure he will say "You clearly weren't "the right fit" or "it's such a shame you feel the need to say such negative things… bla bla bla" like he seems to do with every critical review. Whats actually a shame is that he doesn't act on people's advice. Sell the company. Get some people with business knowledge in. Treat the amazing people who work for you like adults. They are the only reason this company is successful, especially your IT people who you don't pay enough. These big shots you pay loads do almost nothing compared to your tech people. 9-6 is draining. People will work overtime when they need to get a job done because they're dedicated. You need to be more flexible - that's what people want.
