Pros

Used to be many but none remain.

Cons

Losing 5 HR people in 8 months is a good start and speaks volumes. Even HR cannot stand this place. The partners and senior leadership are in a constant power struggle. Most meetings revolve around how to work around instead of with partners/management/resources. The culture is one of blame shifting and finger pointing - very demoralizing. No direction or vision from the leadership. I think they get paid every time they say the word "transparency". Even though they seem to lack knowledge of the word's definition. Lots of backstabbing and rumor mill - think overly dramatic TV sitcom set in middle school. You cannot trust anyone they will lie to your face even though they know that you know they are lying. They will pile on responsibility and work but will not support your authority. People get hired based on who they know not what they know - if you worked at Boost or Muve you are a sure hire. Technically they are ignorant and do not understand much especially security or data protection. Lackluster protection for any data - even customer data. Big push to hire foreign workers and replace the domestic workforce with the foreign contractors. Just good enough\bare minimum is the rule and greed is the overriding emotion. This company is a soul crushing career killer avoid them like the plague!!!

Pros

You can sign up for free 4-person take-home meals made by the in-house chef, up to 2 times a month. They’re allowing remote work (although they never stated it’s permanent - based on the leadership’s comments, it looks like they still want to bring work back to the office eventually). Whether you’ll enjoy the culture really depends on the team you’re placed in, so I recommend getting a feel for your immediate team’s culture during your interviews. The company hosts trivia games where you can win “Ultrabucks,” an internal currency that you can redeem for Ultra Mobile/Mint Mobile branded products. Health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) are great!

Cons

Early into the pandemic in 2020, HR at Ultra Mobile offered “Ultrabucks” incentives for employees who wrote a 5-star review on the company’s Glassdoor profile. I advise anyone reading these reviews to take a lot of those 5-star reviews from 2020 with a grain of salt. Ultra Mobile will pay BELOW market average for your role. I’ve talked to a few coworkers where we shared our salaries with one another, and we realized we are all being paid below market salary range for the OC area. Ultra Mobile’s environment harbors a serious BURNOUT CULTURE, akin to an agency. They have insanely quick project turnaround times. I’ve noticed many of my coworkers would have to work weekends to meet these deadlines. When prompted about this issue, senior leadership stated “you have Unlimited PTO - use it to supplement those weekends you worked.” However, you will need your manager’s approval for PTO requests, and depending on the manager and amount of work you have, it’s 1) difficult to bring up that request and 2) they may possibly deny it if they need you to work. To tie the 2 points above together: Ultra Mobile will likely overwork and underpay you. My advice is to work at Ultra Mobile if you’re in need of a job, but leave for greener pastures once you’ve accumulated some level of experience.

Thank you for your candid feedback. We take every comment seriously, and we appreciate that you took the time to share some of your concerns, so we’d like to help. We cannot comment on the incentive for Glassdoor reviews, as incentivizing people to provide 5-star reviews is against our policy. However, we offer new hires UB for reviewing our product apps, which may have contributed to this miscommunication. Regardless, we apologize for the miscommunication regarding the Glassdoor reviews. Regarding your salary, we’d recommend having a conversation with your manager to express your concerns. We want to ensure everyone is receiving appropriate compensation based on their job responsibilities, performance, and in range with market trends. Sometimes the market fluctuates, but we intend to stay in range. If you’d like assistance with this conversation, please connect with HR. Yes, the work can be fast-paced and heavy at times, as with many growing organizations. However, we want to ensure that you have the support you need during times of hyper-growth. We love our unlimited vacation benefit and know it’s been well received by our employees since it gives everyone the power over their own schedules. It's not our practice to deny requests unless a significant company or team milestone requires all-hands-on-deck. If you’d like to speak with Human Resources, we’d be happy to have a conversation with you to see how we can help. Again, thank you for your feedback!

Pros

Ultra Mobile has great medical benefits. Also, will have the chance to meet amazing retailers, some will treat you like family.

Cons

Ultra Mobile is definitely that company that allows managers to bully and harass employees as they please. Managers will micromanage, threaten, bully and make fun of employees for everything or nothing at all. There is no respect for religion, sexuality or background, even though they describe themselves as a diverse start up. They do have HR team which are not there to help with the bullying or harassment. When you agree to take the position they will paint a picture of what you need to do, that in no way compares to your actual duties . You will be their account manager, merchandiser, tech support, carpenter and their gopher. They have no balance between life and work because they expect for you to be on call 24/7 . They offer unlimited vacation days which will rarely be approved. Your car will become their storage space and will become theirs instead of yours. Your strengths will not be used because they expect you to be a robot . Their bonus structure will rarely be attainable because they will change it faster than you can reach a goal. One thing that you can learn from this is how not to treat people and how not to allow people to treat you.
