Pros

Flexible schedule, fair pay, good people.

Cons

Management micromanaged every aspect of the position. Very passive aggressive when it came to constructive criticism.

Pros

A lot of the frontline workers really care and do their best. The work really makes a positive impact on the community. There are definitely some pockets of wonderful capable people who are doing their best in a flawed system. They also pay relatively well, though that is probably to prevent the needed unionizing.

Cons

I hate to say that it has become a very toxic culture, even as they are trying to change that perception (and secure more funding) with the Sanctuary model being shoehorned in. Many workers hold resentments, feel unappreciated, and constantly sit with the feeling that they are being treated unfairly. Management is thought by many to be heartless and does not provide the support employees need succeed, often throwing them under the bus instead. People feel unsafe about having personal things used against them, having people bad talk them behind their back, and being overworked with little thanks or accommodation. It’s also pretty well recognized that outside of their little shallow culture boosting ventures, they will rarely give workers feedback except to document a case against the workers they blacklist. These are problems that seem to be all over community mental health, so they are not unique to Unison, and I am sure some people have great experiences with them. But toxicity has unfortunately taken hold in many if not most areas of the organization. Many employees are put in situations where they are forced to leave, often getting screwed over such as having the company try to take back its hiring bonuses and PTO.
