Pros

There were a number of good co-workers. The good co-workers were new hires who didn't know any better.

Cons

1. Unethical business practices. Explanation: WBT will offer 2 types of services to universities---one service is leasing their software so the university can run its own call center. The second service is the full managed (Campus Connection/Campus Plus) which WBT provides a call center manager to run the program for the university. The problem here is that WBT claims to have a seasoned, trained manager that will run the phonathon better than the university can do on their own. The truth is that WBT hires a group of new college graduates every year who have zero experience. The universities are NOT receiving a seasoned veteran at all; they are getting a 21 year person who will be learning on the job. It would be better for the university to hire and train their own person and save thousands of dollars. 2. Wilson-Bennett has a "firing" culture. The moment one thing goes wrong, someone gets fired. Basically they fire 10-15 people every year. This constant turn-over causes continual stress. Training and retraining and employees working in fear of being fired. 3. The salaries paid to the phonathon managers is lopsided compared to what the CEO and his wife are earning. Basically the owners of this company are making millions while they pay their employees wages that are very difficult to live on. 4. The chaos an unorganization at this company is shocking at times. Most of the decisions are made by the CEO's wife. People are being fired all the time. Clients are cancelling contracts. Existing clients complain about the service constantly. It seems as though this company is hanging by a thread and is only a few cancelled contracts away from going under. Enter this company at your own risk!

Pros

Cons

Where to begin.. I worked for Wilson-Bennett from my freshman year until the day of my college graduation, and I got absolutely nothing genuinely lucrative out of my experience and most importantly, this company showed me that they do not at all care about the few employees that actually stick the job out rather than the revolving door of callers due to how excruciatingly dull and at times abusive this job can be. For one they did absolutely nothing when students of color would be on the receiving end of racists rants that they were forced to listen to, as I had been called slurs on several occasions and was reprimanded for simply telling the prospect to not speak to me that way, and there was nothing in place to actually support the callers as they paid us $8.25 for over 2 years, and while they did raise the pay to 10 dollars an hour, nearly every single check I received, including my final check, were missing at least one shift that we worked. Along with the ill treatment and pay of students I would also like to point out the lack of appreciation for students. I worked at Wilson-Bennett for the past 4 years. I was one of 3 callers that did not quit when the pandemic began, I consistently raised the most money, and in my first year as a supervisor I was at the office and ran shifts more often than my boss. I never complained, I was the main point of contact for callers to an extent that they would tell me that they were changing their schedule/calling out rather than our actual boss because that was how little she was there. Although I cannot put all the blame on my boss as Wilson-Bennett as a company strives on a lack of communication. During one of my days off when I was out of state and my boss was out of the country more than 10 callers reached out to me saying that the person who Wilson- Bennett sent to run shift did not send out wils numbers, did not set up a google meet, and did not even speak to the callers at all. Then, during a day that I had called out for, I had to run shifts, and they did not even pay me for it. Unfortunately due to the fact that I was so used to Wilson-Bennett’s lack of care for their workers, this did not bother me too much until I announced my graduation. Every year callers/supervisors who worked there until graduation received something from Wilson-Bennett for their last shift. Sometimes gift bags, shirts, or just in general thanking someone for sticking to a job that doesn't have the best retention rate. For my final shift I received, 1. Running the shift by myself, 2. A check missing shifts that I worked. Even when I sent my boss a long message thanking them, they said nothing. I understand that no job truly owes you a thank you, or emotional support, but due to the fact that I was one of 3 that stayed during the pandemic, I raised more than 100.000 dollars while working for Wilson-Bennett, and I kept my mouth shut about every sketchy thing they did, the fact that my time there ended the way it did truly makes me sick to my stomach as I spent 4 years at a job that never cared. All I want is for no other student who needs money to fall into the same trap they caught me in.
