I have been working at Wincanton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some great people to work with

    Cons

No pay rises or structure to gain a raise, no incentives to push yourself, no leadership at management level, no information on major issues within Wincanton.

    Advice to Management

The problems start at the top and can be resolved there, and work down to the teams on the Floor, only then will things improve.

I have been working at Wincanton full-time

    Pros

The only pro is the pay is good

    Cons

No work home life balance, Micro Managed, Management not interested in employee welfare. Big turn over of drivers. Agency drivers refusing to work at site. Not all employees treated the same.

    Advice to Management

Need to start to listen to employees and take on board concerns and act on them. You need to give loyalty and empathy to get loyalty back.

I have been working at Wincanton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The Screwfix contract are very focused on promoting within and encouraging development within all areas on all sites.

With a new Lichfield site opening this has expanded the opportunities for all employees looking to develop in to the next steps of their career.

Challenging but positive future and very much looking forward of being a part of it!

    Cons

I can’t currently think of any cons but if I could say anything I would just say to ensure communication is continued to be rolled out to employees on anything which will keep them informed and valued as the contract grows.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep employees informed as best as possible.

I have been working at Wincanton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clean work, regular shifts, decent vehicles. (Mostly.)

    Cons

Treated like 2nd class workers in comparison to the agency staff. We feel that we command no respect from the management whatsoever and this is a fast growing downward spiral.

    Advice to Management

You're in the wrong job. You don't get good results by treating your drivers like third rate workers.

    Pros

There is always a change to 'get involved' with new things, stretch your self and make a difference. Always endeavour to do the right thing first time

    Cons

Complex processes due to the nature of the company structure - however nothing that you cant get used to
