Pros

Free water . . . .

Cons

Don't let them fool you by making themselves seem successful and impressive...easily the worst work experience you will ever have... and I don't say that lightly. This company is a scam. Employees regularly walk out on the job... I have seen this happen 3 times in the last month out of a 30-something person office. Leadership is filled with immature petty yes-men to the hopelessly ill-equipped and short-sighted CEO who all have antagonistic attitudes toward their employees. You will be consistently blamed for the results of their poor judgement and decision-making abilities. Here is a list of fraudulent behavior I observed and verified with multiple coworkers during my time in this company: -Previous fines paid to the Department of Labor due to failure to pay employees their last check after termination of employment. -Harassment on behalf of COO that was reported and ignored by HR: Multiple female coworkers had mentioned, and some reported, sexual harassment from the COO and were all promptly ignored by HR. -OSHA bathroom minimums not met: For months there were two total toilets for almost 40 employees crammed into a small windowless office in the Gaithersburg location. This was in violation of OSHA standards. -Cheated their way to ISO 9001 certification: Non-compliant goods such as unmarked customer parts were typically strewn about with lack of procedure. These were hidden prior to their ISO audit in order to gain the certification. -Falsely claim ITAR compliance: Files are shared over email and file storage without consideration for ITAR requirements. They lazily instructed employees in my dept to password protect ITAR files but there are no safeguards and employees will typically forget amongst the mountain of work they have. This company's lack of standards and procedures, in reality, invalidates their claim of ITAR compliance. -Managers forcing employees to quote lead times with no intention of actual on-time delivery in order to close sales and save face with the ill-tempered COO. -Ignoring advice of technically-trained employees on parts we know we can't properly manufacture in order to secure the sale to boost revenue. -Regularly lying and withholding information from customers. Beside the legitimate fraudulence of this company, there is the matter of leadership support for their employees; there is none. If you let your manager know your workload is too much, across the company, without exception, they will brand you as lazy and simply expect you to work harder. There is no intelligent approach to scaling or increasing workload; They legitimately expect to scale areas of the business with no software support or increased head count, but simply by the existing employees continuing to handle more and more work. It can be very difficult to get PTO approved. Leadership is delusional across the board. They are short-sighted and short-tempered. VPs and other executives can be heard complaining about the "tantrums" and "moodiness" of the CEO. Common missteps taken by leadership in the handling of various situations are met with overcorrections that somehow manage to damage things further. Their only redeeming factor is that somehow the CEO is able to continually con his way into large fundraising rounds. Investors would not be interested if they saw the actual operational state of the company and how unprepared it is for growth. As a result, Xometry is a bubble, growing larger with every successful round of funding, that is heading toward an increasingly loud pop. Their business model offers a tenuous value-add for customers. You could save yourself the Xometry margin by just googling local shops for your needs. They are a glorified broker. They are worse than most brokers, actually, because most won't lie to their customers and complicate the process. You are not allowed to contact the actual supplier of your parts because that would cut out the middle man that is Xometry. The company is in constant denial of the failure of the business model's ability to be competitive as a result, and the prevailing office sentiment is desperation. I sincerely hope nobody makes the mistake I did of signing on with this company.

Pros

Remote positions. There are some great employees and mangers, who are unfortunately under appreciated by the Executive team.

Cons

From the outside you think innovative tech company with lots of growth and opportunity. As you start your “training” period you quickly learn this company has zero structure and is ripping at the seams. There is no real training material or support once you dive into your role. You are expected to hit astronomical quotas, and if you have a slow day you are berated by the Executive team who is always asking for more, even if you are hitting your numbers. There is no employee appreciation and the moral is quickly lost a few weeks in. I would say most realize what is going on and resign, which gives this company a high turnover rate. If you are looking for a sales position with realistic expectations and mentorship this isn’t it. Keep looking.
