Pros

- Good product - Win on cheap price - Great stepping stone company for career advancement elsewhere

Cons

- If you aren't a white male who enjoys hockey as a player or a fan, you will NOT fit in here. This is a team of all the same people, who enjoy all the same things, with a hard touch of "bro" layered in. - You are sold a culture of hard work, serious business during the interview process - not like a startup with kegs, t-shirts, sneakers etc. Yet, the office is filled with guys who bring their hockey sticks to work. Yes, for real. Instead of the office putt putt golf station, these guys are weaving in and out with their hockey sticks with their headsets on during calls. - My onboarding training was teaching myself a 46 slide, powerpoint slide deck. NO FURTHER TRAINING. Read the powerpoint and then told to pick up the phone. - Had to reach out to marketing for messaging help since I did not receive the support from my direct manager. - BDRs can't work from home but AE's can. AE's also get to leave early every Friday while the BDR team does not. - Their is a sick fascination with what a competitor, Mimecast is doing. Everything we do is a reaction to what Mimecast is doing, who they just acquired, who can we hire from them. Zix has taken on all the "rejects" and "burnouts" from Mimecast thinking if they hired Mimecast guys, then Zix will see the same success Mimecast has seen. WISHFUL THINKING. What has happened is all these former Mimecast guys who Zix has hired, are collecting the massive $5000 internal referral bonus by firing people they don't like and replacing them with more Mimecast friends. It's absurd and incredibly transparent yet management turns a blind eye. - Zix is playing from behind. The acquisition of AppRiver was to address the huge hole in our SPAM, malware software - and to address the immense lack of diversity in the Burlington office. - Being force fed Red Bulls, Monsters, and coffee while listening to Journey to get "jazzed up" for a Call Blitz 5 days a week gets pretty old fast too. - We are told to hang up the phone if we come across a customer who uses Proofpoint. Losing mentality. - Really only compete with Barracuda - who blows us out of the water with their marketing team - When i was on the sales team, there were 4 women out of 60 employees in the entire office. There were only 3 people of color. - The Spanish office manager would send out a weekly email reminding the office she isn't the dishwasher and janitor so please clean up after yourselves in the kitchen. Little insight into how minorities are treated here. - The companies top AE's have ALL left. Companies like Oracle, Rapid7, SonicWall, etc have all taken the top talent so there is a GIANT learning gap with the now "Senior" AE's who just got a promotion to back-fill those who have left and the BDRs who got a lucky promotion to back-fill the previously promoted AE's.

Too many layoffs

Pros

There are some great people at Zix/Appriver

Cons

13 layoffs to date per a long time employee who is keeping count. Little effort is made to retain good employees. Incompetent/poisonous people are kept and management isn’t doing anything about it. Lots of tech debt and almost daily high severity issues are causing dev burnout. Management is not demonstrating our company values. Employees are treated like dispensable interchangeable widgets.

Pros

Nothing that you cannot get with any other comparable employer.

Cons

Lack of competent leadership. Absolutely ZERO transparency. Promises the world to their customers and employees but rarely delivers.
