Pros

1. Work with inspiring colleagues who have many passions outside work 2. Gatherings are great for re-energising and held in amazing locaitons 3. The business is on to a good thing with the app and increasing popularity of outdoor leisure, it will be very difficult for komoot to fail

Cons

1. leadership lacking diversity and the company does not see diversity as a strategic priority 2. company not great at supporting individual mental health or work-life boundaries. You are expected to have slack notifications on your phone and respond to messages within a set time period. You are also expected to use your personal sim card and social media accounts for work. Colleagues routinely work when sick and when on holiday. 3. managers not empowered and squads and hierarchies limit the flow of ideas, feedback and communication 4. salary is low and there is little space for progression. There is no transparency when it comes to salary and a lot of secrecy over who is paid what. There is no data recording or reporting on the gender pay gap. 5. product and company direction is unclear, it isn't a customer-focused culture and founders are not transparent about decisions or strategy 6. little empathy for employees in different situations during the Covid19 pandemic and lockdowns 7. development of new features is slow so improving the app is a slow process and customer trust is lost in the meantime

Pros

Working for a brand where your own personal interests, views and opinions strongly align with those of the company is fantastic and for me the key to a happy professional life. This is reflected in a great, like-minded team but also in terms of work structure: with all the staff working remotely trust is instilled in colleagues from the start which is very motivating! Of course working from home also makes for a lot flexibility as to how/when to tackle your workload – this couldn't be more appreciated with a small child!

Cons

Working from home also has some downsides, mainly the lack of regular face-to face contact with colleagues and drawing a clear line between what is 'home time/leisure' and 'work time'. However, komoot makes sure we compensate for this with a lot of structured online team time, and, Covid restrictions permitting, real life Gatherings 3 times a year.

Pros

amazing culture, motivated colleagues, the opportunity to achieve impact and change the way people explore

Cons

remote working means when your colleagues bake tasty treats over the weekend you can't eat them!
