Pros

I joined mGage as Director of Corporate Solutions Europe in October 2107 and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute, I have a vibrant hard-working team and have just recruited an additional head to drive new business acquisition. I joined at an exciting time for mGage as we have recently completed a 12 month $100m infrastructure program migrating 3 data centres to brand new facilities with the latest technology. The UK office has a brand-new DC with the capacity and resiliency to support our customers requirements for many years to come.

Cons

This has been a very busy time for us over the last 3 months which meant that the working days were extended as we completed a number of key customer projects, but the various teams are committed to delivering and there is excellent spirit of collaboration and a desire to get the job done.

We are pleased you are settling in to your role well and we’re even more pleased to have you on board. You joined mGage at a very interesting time. The 2017 infrastructure improvement investment is now complete, meaning we have an even stronger offering for our clients. For 2018 our focus is on securing new business wins with more well known brands to add to our ever growing portfolio. With that in mind we have realigned the sales teams focus in the UK (as you know!) to distinct verticals: Corporate and Commercial Solutions. We are also investing in training in the near future for the Sales teams to help hone and sharpen their skills and we’re recruiting to ensure we have the best people in place to meet our growth plan for 2018 and beyond. We appreciate your hard work and commitment to date - keep up the good work!

Pros

The company has a core of competent technical staff that work hard to pull a solution together.

Cons

The company is haemorrhaging staff in the UK like no other company I have seen. Huge numbers of sales people, engineers, operational product and project people have left in the last year. Many really talented people have just decided they have had enough. I am not in management so don't know all the reasons why, but there really is a general discontent and frustration in the organisation. The feedback I get from people is that the senior management team in North America are quite dictatorial. The bonus scheme is a complete joke and never gets paid, we hear excuses about it not being possible because of the financial state of the business and its not guaranteed. I am in the process of looking for another job and I could never recommend this company in any way.

We are disappointed to hear you are unhappy in your role at mGage. We feel it is important we address your comments as many are factually incorrect. Therefore, we respond accordingly below. Firstly, the issue of staff turnover. In your review, you note you do not know the reasons why people have left mGage. These reasons are many and varied and a degree of staff turnover is to be expected at any organisation. Whilst we are sad to see some people exit the business, we believe the growth and progression of the Company depends on having the right individuals with the right skills in each role, and at times a degree of turnover is helpful to ensure we achieve this. You also make the comment “the feedback you get from people is senior management in North America are quite dictatorial.” Sometimes “dictatorial” can be confused with “accountability” – all senior managers, both in the US and the UK, are held accountable for delivering the objectives of the business; individually and collectively as a team. Accountability goes both ways – employee to manager and manager to employee – and it comes down to communication. There are many avenues for staff to communicate and provide feedback to the Company both formally and informally. We hold a monthly EU all hands and regular all company meetings, we frequently ask employees for feedback (via surveys for example), but above all we work in open plan office and all members of the management team – both UK and US based - are available to discuss areas of concern at any time. Finally, we would like to respond to your comments regarding the bonus scheme. We operate a discretionary bonus scheme for all non-sales employees, by nature of a discretionary scheme, bonus payments are not guaranteed. However, we would like to formally note here, we are very pleased to report mGage has paid 100% bonus to all eligible employees for the past two financial years (FY2015, paid in 2016 and FY2016, paid in 2017).

Pros

Great people, fun environment.

Cons

No structure, staff turnover is extremely high either due to leavers or getting rid of people at the end of the probation period. Zero transparency at the company, a lot of big changes within the company were actively covered up or purposely not communicated. Don't expect job stability.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review – we view negative feedback with an open mind and we accept that sometimes things can be handled better. As with any business, mGage has continued to evolve and make changes to our structure and go-to business strategy to continue to remain competitive. We like to think that these changes have been handled smoothly and where possible, communicated effectively. We are sorry to hear you feel there is a lack of transparency. However, I am sure you can appreciate in some cases it is not fair to individuals affected to communicate the changes widely. As with all companies, unfortunately, sometimes people do not pass their probation period; it is in place to ensure the right person with the right skills has been hired for the role. We have responded to feedback from staff about more open communication, and this year initiated the monthly EU All Hands. This is great opportunity for teams to get together for lunch, an update from the management team and to ask questions. We try to keep the content relevant, motivating and informative. We like to recognise successes, but also to acknowledge where we can improve and work together more efficiently. We are also actively improving our induction process. When I started I was shown to my seat and given my log in details(!)…..now, we engage new joiners before they start with emails and joining instructions, all new employees receive a welcome pack with “need to know” information, and 1:1 induction meetings are set up with key individuals from each team with the aim of giving our new joiners a good overview of what each team works on. It’s not perfect and there is still room for improvement, but we are moving forward! We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your feedback and to wish you all the best with your future endeavours.
