Pros
Company reflects the values of the two founders - that means a great open culture, with good project work and the opportunity to develop your career and skills along the way. You have to be talented and willing to work hard - autonomy is encouraged but not at the expense of outcomes!
Cons
The company can be a bit naive compared to other more established outfits, but this can be a blessing or a curse depending on how the work with it. Project work aren't often as strategic as other agencies; the focus is around design and building amazing digital experiences - something most other agencies are woefully bad at!
Advice to Management
Ensure your values are maintained across the whole group - it what make ustwo unique.

Pros
amazing people and talent, great culture, inspiring and meaningful work. user centric design, working closer and understanding our clients needs and business , family and children friendly
Cons
I sometimes wish we were able to spend more time and resources on our own IP. Unable to open source and share a lot of great work on github as it is a property of our clients.

Pros
As a contractor I've been treated like part of the "fampany". I was skeptical of the environment being all it is cracked up to be, but after my first conversation with the founders, I knew it was all for real. ustwo's people really are at the heart of the company. Their culture is famous, and their values of caring for each other, learning all the time and "being real" shine through. The London studio is packed... full of smart and creative people, who are genuinely committed to creating a positive impact through the work they do. They're making high quality digital products and have a lot to be proud of. There are training budgets for all staff to buy books and courses to improve their skills and lots of emphasis is put on seeking feedback.
Show MoreCons
With so much choice, it takes self-motivated type of person to make the most of it. If you're waiting to be told what to do, you are unlikely to thrive in this environment. A billable hours model for client work can impact work life balance for some.
Advice to Management
Trust people to make decisions and they won't disappoint you. You can be a fampany and still treat your staff like grown ups.

Pros
Culture that actively encourages entrepreneurialism Talented people who share a common desire to push the boundaries of what's possible with technology and design thinking Great studio / environment that stimulates creativity Diversity of business model - client work, own ventures, games
Cons
Culture and fairly recently implemented flat hierarchy is still developing. Doesn't always work perfectly for those who are used to more structure and guidance.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you're doing.

Pros
For me the work/life balance is very easy to achieve here. We are fairly strict with working 8 hours a day, and encourage taking regular breaks throughout the day, playing sports mid-week and (after 1 year of full-time employment) can get a free gym membership. The company is always looking to the future, what's next, we never stand still. We've gone from making wallpapers, icons and assets to building products from... start to finish and launching new ventures + companies which employees have joined full-time leaving their roles at ustwo but still staying in the family. Which I think is a fairly unique model. It's all here if you want to work for it.
Show MoreCons
For me there is a bit of an un-balance when it comes to mindset, there are too many people in it for themselves, trying to climb the ladder, 'look what I have done, look how clever I am" and as company we think a little too highly of ourselves. This is of course not everyone but a few too many for my liking. Rapid expansion does come at a cost where a few years ago I knew everyones name, now there are people who... could be a client, colleague, start up, friend , intern. There is a disconnect between the new business/management people and designers/developers.

Less sympathy and much more empathy, towards the products we a build, the clients we work with and the people who design & develop them.

Pros
Great working environment. Top clients and amazing end products
Cons
If you don't fit in with the working 12 hour days every day then it reverts back to school bullying. The fact that everyone has a nickname should have set a lightbulb off in my head about the personalities running it.
Advice to Management
People do have a life outside work. People don't mind working late if it's appreciated. Not because of peer pressure

Pros
Culture, people, flat hierarchy that is lead from the bottom up
Cons
Still to reach it's full potential/maturity. Not really a con.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you're doing. Share the secret sauce externally. More women.
